
There are films who can be predicted as disasters-in-the-making and then there are films which release promising trailers but are dreadful products. Films like Fan, Azhar, Shivaay, Freaky Ali and Banjo raised the expectations of the audience during promotions but they did not manage to score well with the audience. Yahoo India released its Year in Review lists, which revealed the people, events, and stories that captured the attention of Indians in the last 12 months. Amongst the Top Box Office Disasters, Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor’s launch movie Mirzya was a major letdown for movie enthusiasts. Ashutosh Gowariker’s highly anticipated period drama Mohenjo Daro and Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan were other big movies to failed miserably at the box office.

Banjo
Best of Express Premium
Banjo collected Rs 25.29 crore on its opening weekend. It released in September and faced competition from Baar Baar Dekho, Pink, Freaky Ali, Raaz Reboot. Banjo was directed by Ravi Jadhav.
Mirzya
During an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, director Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra had made it clear that he was not aiming for box office when he launched Mirzya. The director who once treated us with hits like Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Delhi 6, had his eyes more on filmmaking rather than the money the film collected.
Great Grand Masti
Great Grand Masti is one of the popular comedy franchise of India after Golmaal, Housefull, Kya Kool Hai Hum to name a few. The makers of adult-comedy film faced huge loss when their film was leaked online three weeks before its release.
Fan
The trailers of Fan and the songs Jabra Fan gave SRKians a ray of hope that the superstar had finally decided to use his stardom and deliver a film with integrity. The film, however, failed to click.
Mohenjo Daro
One had high expectations from Ashutosh Gowarikar who previously treated us with films like Jodhaa Akbar, Swadesh, Lagaan to name a few. Although the name Mohenjo Daro raised a lot of expectations, the film didn’t work. Also, the film faced a huge competition from Akshay Kumar’s Rustom.
Baar Baar Dekho
It is not very difficult to predict the consequences when Bollywood decides the amalgamation of two actors who manage to hold the same kind of expression throughout their whole career span. Director Nitya Mehra marked her commercial imprint on Bollywood with Baar Baar Dekho.
Shivaay
When self-claimed number 1 critic Kamaal R Khan decided to give Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay a bad review, that was enough to enrage the actor, who had his film all set to release on Diwali 2016. The film, however, faced humungous competition against Ae Dil Hai Muskhil.
Freaky Ali
Those familiar with the ways of Bollywood presumed that with the backing of superstar Salman Khan, Freaky Ali would work. However, despite Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s excellent performance the film couldn’t manage to fly high in the box office.
A Flying Jatt
A Flying Jatt was supposed to be the next superhero franchise in India after Krrish and Ra One. Although the film couldn’t manage to fly height, the ‘Beat Pe Booty’ challenge started by the marketing team of the film, managed to be a huge hit on social media.
Azhar
After Jannat, one had a lot of expectations from Azhar, mainly because of the image The Dirty Picture actor has managed to create for himself after his popularity as the serial kisser. However, the film failed to fly high.
