Dia Mirza defends Nadaniyaan stars Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor against backlash, blames ‘eat the privilege’ culture
Actor Dia Mirza talks about the backlash Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor have faced since the release of Nadaaniyan.
Dia Mirza played the role of a teacher and Ibrahim's mother in the film Nadaaniyan.
Actor Dia Mirza was last seen in the Netflix film Nadaaniyan, in which she played the mother of debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan’s character. Since its release, the film received scathing reviews from critics and audiences alike, and both lead actors, Ibrahim and Khushi Kapoor, found themselves being targeted. Dia defended Ibrahim and said that she was concerned for him.
In an interview with the Bombay Times, Dia addresses the negativity around the film, and the attacks directed at Ibrahim and Khushi. “I don’t agree with targeting someone on a personal level. I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but a line should be drawn if it starts to affect the mental health of the people involved. They are young actors, and this trend of attacking those who come from privilege is not right.”
