Dhurandhar star Akshaye Khanna ‘not at all humble,’ claims journalist; fans react: ‘Jealous’
The video had Akshaye Khanna received Best Male Debut award for his 1998 film Border and said that the actor is hardly humble. Akshaye has not opened up since Dhurandhar's viral success.

Dhurandhar has been dominating conversations ever since its release. While some hail it as Ranveer Singh’s big comeback, others praise its cinematic brilliance, and a large section of viewers can’t stop talking about Akshaye Khanna’s standout performance. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film has amassed a staggering Rs 960 crore worldwide within 20 days, earning Rs 20 crore in India on its third Wednesday alone.
That said, the film has not been free of controversy. A section of viewers has criticised Dhurandhar as a “well-made propaganda film,” with actor Hrithik Roshan also publicly disagreeing with the film’s political undertones.
Amid this, a journalist has found himself at the centre of a fresh social media storm after taking a dig at Akshaye Khanna—who has recently become a national crush, particularly after his performance in Flipperachi’s viral song “FA9LA.”

Taking to Instagram, the journalist reshared a throwback reel originally posted by Filmfare’s official page, which showed Akshaye Khanna receiving the Best Male Debut award for Border (1997) at the 43rd Filmfare Awards. The reel carried the text: “Akshaye Khanna humbly accepts his debut award at the 43rd Filmfare Awards.”
Mocking the caption, he wrote on his Instagram story, “He was not at all humble or self-effacing when he accepted the award.” He further added, “Poor Sandhya asked him a question and he snapped back asking why this should be a question-and-answer session.”
Screenshots of the story quickly went viral, making their way to Reddit and other platforms, where users largely came out in defence of the actor and his recent success.
One user wrote, “Mr no PR gang strikes again.” Another commented, “Dhurandhar’s success has really angered some people, especially Akshaye and Ranveer’s rivals. They’re so jealous of this massive success. I wonder what will happen when Dhurandhar Part 2 comes out.”
Several users defended Akshaye Khanna by pointing out his introverted personality. One wrote, “Wasn’t he right to ask that question? It was an award acceptance, not an interview.” Another added, “Everyone knows Akshaye Khanna is straightforward. He never claims to be humble.”
With Rs 960 crore in 20 days, Dhurandhar has officially become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, surpassing the lifetime collections of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal to emerge as the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film worldwide.
The film stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun in key roles.
Dhurandhar: Part 2 is slated to hit theatres on March 19, 2026.
