Ranveer Singh’s previous film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani collected Rs 11.1 crore on its opening day, Rs 16.05 crore on day two, and eventually amassed around Rs 182 crore in India. In comparison, Dhurandhar has been demonstrating stronger numbers and a sharper upward trend at the box office. In fact, the film has secured the third-biggest opening of the year, behind Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR’s War 2 and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. It is now well on its way to joining the list of Ranveer Singh’s top 10 highest-grossing films of all time.

Yet, despite its commercial momentum, Dhurandhar has drawn sharply divided reactions from critics. An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of the film read, “Most of the time though, Dhurandhar I is all about which of the three current and ageing hunks – Ranveer Singh as Hamza, Rampal as the ISI’s Major Iqbal, and Sanjay Dutt as Karachi police encounter specialist Choudhary Aslam – can land and stand how much blood and gore.”

Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar also features Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan in pivotal roles.
