Dhurandhar advance booking: Ranveer Singh’s A-rated film off to a strong start, mints Rs 1.4 cr

Dhurandhar advance booking collection: Director Aditya Dhar’s new film Dhurandhar is all set for a release later this week, and it has opened the gates for advance bookings. With two more days till it starts its theatrical run, starting the booking at this point might turn out to be rather lucrative for the makers of the film. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has already sold tickets worth Rs 1.4 crore in just a couple of hours.

Dhurandhar’s high ticket prices

The film is running in 2D and IMAX 2D formats, with the former’s ticket prices ranging between Rs 350 and Rs 450. The IMAX tickets are priced between Rs 470 and Rs 520 for most theatres in Delhi NCR. Dhurandhar’s most expensive ticket is priced at Maison INOX, Jio World Plaza, BKC, Mumbai, where a ticket will set you back by Rs 2,020, including a Rs 70 convenience fee. It doesn’t include any food or beverage. Despite the high ticket prices, the film has already sold 30,969 tickets, and if block seats are accounted for, it has raked in Rs 2.94 crore total. If the film is able to maintain this momentum in the coming two days, it can set itself up for a very impressive opening day.

Dhurandhar gets A-rating

Given the violence in the film, Dhurandhar has received A-rating from censor board. This will be Ranveer’s first film to get adult certification. Its runtime is 3 hours, 34 minutes, which makes it the longest film in over 15 years.

Dhurandhar not based on Major Sharma’s life

Dhurandhar has all the right tools to bring in box office numbers. It is somewhat following suit with Bollywood’s new affinity towards heavy action-based films, with less suggestive violence and more graphic ones. Its music is already being streamed all over the country, and the story behind the film is also making a lot of eyeballs turn. Aditya Dhar had earlier said the film isn’t based on Major Mohit Sharma’s life. The martyr’s parents had taken the makers to the court. The issue was resolved on Tuesday with CBFC giving the film a go ahead and saying it is not based on major Sharma’s life.

Dhurandhar cast

Last but not least, it has a power-packed cast, filled with names who have been on the receiving end of a successful movie many times.

Actors like Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna are leading the charge, and if the trailer is any indication, they all have an equally important role in the film. Young actor Sara Arjun is also involved with the project, and Ranveer’s praise of her skill as an actor caught people’s attention. Delhi NCR and Maharashtra are leading the charge with the most amount of tickets sold. Maharashtra’s contribution to the entire sum is Rs 34.32 lakh, while Mumbai alone is responsible for Rs 18.44 lakh.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is releasing on December 5, and its cast includes Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna.
