Veteran actor Dharmendra, who recently injured his shoulder, says he will undergo a surgery after the release of his upcoming film “Second Hand Husband” next month.
The 79-year-old actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on May 27 after he complained of pain in the right shoulder and weakness.
Maintaining that he is in good health now, Dharmendra said, “After the release of this film (‘Second Hand Husband’) I will undergo the operation.”
“I am fit and fine. While getting down from vanity van I fell down and happened to injure my shoulder. I also got my routine check up done, in which we came to know that my hemoglobin count was a bit low. In January it was 13 then it came down to 6 now it is 12,” the actor said in an interview.
“Second Hand Husband”, also starring Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja in her Bollywood debut, will hit theatres on July 3.
Dharmendra, married to actress-MP Hema Malini, said she keeps reminding him to quit drinking but he finds it hard to abide by her suggestion.
“Khane peene pe parez hai (There are restrictions on food). I think of giving it up (drinking) and my wife keeps reminding me about it. I tell her I will do it on Tuesday… but the Tuesday doesn’t come,” he said jokingly.
Dharmendra has delivered many superhit films like “Anupama”, “Satyakam”, “Chupke Chupke”, “Jeevan Mrityu”, “Mera Gaon Mera Desh”.
He immortalised the character of ‘Veeru’ along with mega-star Amitabh Bachchan in 1975 blockbuster Ramesh Sippy’s “Sholay”.
The former Lok Sabha member was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2012.
His children from first wife Sunny and Bobby Deol are actors, while he has two daughters – Esha and Ahana Deol, from his marriage with Hema.
