The Delhi High Court has stayed the release and exhibition of the trailer of ‘Badamashiyaan’ starring Suzanna Mukherjee, Sharib Hashmi, Siddhant Gupta, Gunjan Malhotra and Karan Mehra for copyright infringement.

“The Delhi High Court has restrained the distribution and exhibition of the trailer and the film titled Badmashiyaan, on the basis of a claim for copyright infringement by MSM and Kaleidoscope. The Plaintiffs claimed that Badmashiyaan is a copy of the Korean film ‘Couples’ and their yet to be released film, ‘Mango’. The plaintiffs also claimed this relief based on an exclusive right that they obtained from the Producer of Couples to make the Hindi language remake of Couples,” said a statement from official statement from MSM Motion Pictures (A division of Sony Entertainment Network).

Mango, starring Rannvijay Singh Singha, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Harman, Monali Thakur and Swara Bhaskar, had been announced by MSM in 2013. The film, which traces one night in the life of five youngsters, was to be directed by ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ director, Abbas Tyrewala.

‘Badmashiyaan’s trailer also showed the similar plotline.
