Dear Zindagi is going strong at the box office and has earned a prestigious Rs 36.75 crore in four days since its release. The Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt film collected Rs 12.50 crore on Sunday, showing a strong growth and added the Monday earnings of Rs 4.75 crore to the total.
Talking about the film’s box office collection, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#DearZindagi passes the crucial ‘Monday test’… Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 11.25 cr, Sun 12.50 cr, Mon 4.25 cr. Total: ₹ 36.75 cr [1200 screens].”
The film is garnering huge appreciation on social media too. People are writing about how Dear Zindagi has affected them at a personal level. One wouldn’t expect a film about a young woman seeing a therapist do well commercially. However, early box office collection and critical praise for Dear Zindagi has made it the top movie of the weekend. Also, there was no another major clash for the film too. Dear Zindagi is also doing well in the overseas market, having collected Rs 27.45 crore in the opening weekend. The film is expected to do well during the weekdays.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared,” #DearZindagi – OVERSEAS – Opening Weekend: $ 4 million [₹ 27.45 cr]… Best in USA-Canada and UAE-GCC… SUPER!.” Taran also shared earlier,” #DearZindagi packs a SOLID PUNCH… Shows FAB growth… Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 11.25 cr, Sun 12.50 cr. Total: ₹ 32.50 cr [1200 screens]. India biz.”
Dear Zindagi is Gauri Shinde’s second film after English Vinglish. “When the actors are talented, it does not matter how experienced they are. Sri was great to work with and she never made me feel that she is a veteran working with a debutante director. Alia, too, brought in a similar discipline to her work. It is beautiful when people, who are intrinsically talented, bring in their spirit of teamwork and not their stardom. It’s an adventure to work with different actors who have their own unique style,” Gauri said in an interview with indianexpress.com.
