As expected, Thugs of Hindostan has had a massive opening at the box office. The Diwali release earned Rs 52.25 crore on its first day. Starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, the film was mounted as the biggest film of the year and the box office numbers have proved the same.

The Rajkumar Hirani film starring Ranbir Kapoor went on to earn more than Rs 300 crore. Despite getting released on a non-holiday, non-festival weekend, Sanju earned Rs 34.75 crore on its first day.
3. Race 3 – Rs 29.17 crore
It is impossible to list the top 5 openers without a Salman Khan film in it. The third part of the popular franchise released on Eid weekend and earned Rs 29.17 crore on its first day. Following negative reviews, the film slowed down at the box office during the weekdays.
4. Gold – Rs 25.25 crore
Akshay Kumar starrer Gold released on Independence Day and earned Rs 25.25 crore on its first day. With patriotic undertones in the story, the film managed to pull in a lot of audience members.
5. Baaghi 2 – Rs 25.10 crore
Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani starrer Baaghi 2 create quite a stir at the box office on its opening day. This Ahmed Khan directorial managed to earn over Rs 150 crore during its theatrical run.
