The Om Raut directorial is based on the story of Tanaji Malusare, the 17th-century Maratha warrior and general of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Tanhaji also features Saif Ali Khan, Luke Kenny, Sharad Kelkar and Kajol among others in significant parts. The film has largely received a positive response from the audience as well as critics.

Talking about the response to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Ajay Devgn told PTI, “I am very happy with the response. Media has seen it and they have loved it. Hopefully, everyone will love it.”
Tanhaji released alongside Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak but has exceeded the latter’s collections by a huge margin.

On January 10, the Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior released in theatres. Directed by Om Raut, the film is based on the story of Tanaji Malusare, the 17th-century Maratha warrior and general of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Malusare is known for his role in the Battle of Sinhagad (1670), which he fought under the Maratha flag against the Mughals, losing his life in the campaign.
