Zareen Khan and Gautam Rode starrer Aksar 2 earned Rs 1.44 crore on Day 1 at the Indian box office. The erotic thriller failed to pull in the audience, who seem to be more interested in Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu and Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot starrer Justice League. Aksar 2 pales in comparison to its earlier part, which boasted of cast like Emraan Hashmi, Dino Morea and Udita Goswami. The first installment also had popular tracks like “Jhalak Dikhla Ja”, “Soniye” and “Loot Jayenge”.
Back then the entire scenario was different. Bollywood films with hard-hitting dialogues, drama, and shot at exotic locations with popular dance numbers managed to find themselves a large audience. However, the Indian audiences’ viewing pattern has evolved since then. Lately, unless it’s the holiday season, Bollywood movie goers are more drawn towards content-driven films than regular masala films. On the other hand, neither the trailer nor any songs from Aksar 2 had particularly generated the right kind of buzz before its release. Meanwhile, Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu seems to be scoring well on all grounds.
The reviews of Aksar 2 are also not helping its cause. The trailer of Aksar 2 hinted at a tale of love, conspiracy and deceit. However, this does not seem to be enough for the audience.
