Millennials remember yesteryear actor Bindu as Salman Khan’s aunt in Hum Aapke Hai Koun and Shah Rukh Khan’s teacher in Main Hoon Na. As much as the audience enjoyed watching her on screen in the comic roles, she had a great time filming for them. Bindu, in a new interview, narrated how both SRK and Salman had immense respect for her on the sets and even today when they meet her, they give her so much respect.
“He is a very sweet, very gentle person. Being a senior artiste, he used to give me a lot of respect. We were shooting in Darjeeling for Main Hoon Na. All of us were standing there after the rehearsal while the camera setup was being done. He saw that I was standing under the scorching sun. He didn’t call any spot boy and picked up a chair and came to me with it. He said, ‘Madam, baithiye (Mam, please sit). It was such a nice gesture. I was so moved,” Bindu told Bollywood Hungama.
She said that though SRK ‘need not’ do what he did but it was very ‘sweet’ of him to get the chair himself.
Bindu has also shared screen space with Salman Khan in his debut movie Biwi Ho To Aisi and in Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Talking about Salman, the veteran star shared, “Salman also, he is very sweet. Aaj bhi milte hain toh itni adab se milte (Even today when he meets me, he meets with so much respect).”
Bindu had a flourishing career in the 70s and 80s. She was popular for her dance numbers and iconic negative roles
