The legal battle erupted following Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death in June this year, after he collapsed during a polo match. Samaira and Kiaan have moved the court seeking a share of their father’s Rs 30,000 crore estate. They have also questioned the validity of a will allegedly written by Sunjay, claiming it may be “forged and fabricated” and alleging that the signature on the document is forged. The plaintiffs have further criticized Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay’s wife at the time of his death, labelling her an “acute gambler” and accusing her of being “greedy,” comparing her to “Cinderella’s stepmother.”

During the hearings, Karisma Kapoor’s lawyers claimed that her daughter Samaira’s college fees had not been paid for two months. In response, Priya Kapur’s counsel disputed the allegation, asserting that all expenses for the children had been covered by Priya and suggesting that the issue was being raised primarily to generate media attention.
