Archana Puran Singh gasps ‘pol khol di’ as son says they take bribes to give good reviews to restaurants

Archana Puran Singh’s quest to find Mumbai’s best food continued in her latest vlog. As usual, she was accompanied by her husband, Parmeet Sethi, and their two sons, Aaryamann and Ayushmaan. Together, they went on an adventure to discover the city’s best kulfi shop, and stopped at three shortlisted establishments. They decided that they will only try the basic version at every shop, and not the one with all the bells and whistles. This didn’t stop them from checking out a special mango kulfi at one place, and a ‘zafran rogan’ variety at another.

At the first venue, they spoke about the coincidence that the first place they visit often ends up being the best. Archana says what usually happens is that they are quite full by the time they hit the final spot, but insisted that they give honest reviews of every restaurant they go to. Then, one of her sons joked about taking bribes to give good reviews to restaurants. “Basically jahan zyada paisa milta hai woh jeetta hai (Whoever gives the most money wins),” he said, and Archana pretended to be scandalised. “Pol kho di (You’ve let the cat out of the bag now),” she said.

They enjoyed the two kulfis they had at Parsi Dairy Farm, and left for New Kulfi Centre. On the way, Archana and Parmeet’s sons made fun of his quirks. “He goes to bed at 8:30 pm and sleeps with his hands on his chest. ‘Get out now, I’m going to sleep’, he says in his voice. Then he wakes up at 4:30 am, because that’s when ‘the best script ideas’ come to him,” said Ayush, while everyone laughed.

The family then hit their final spot of the day, Baba Kulfi, but they weren’t very impressed. They walked a little way away from the shop to share their review. Ayush said that the falooda was more like noodles, while Aaryamann said that there was too much fake pista flavour in the pistachio kulfi. The family has previously gone on food tours to discover the best momo, dosa, and pizza spots in town.
