Director duo Shiboprasad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy say their upcoming film Alik Sukh explores the life of a doctor dealing with personal and professional dilemmas.
Through their film,Shiboprasad and Nandita have tried to show that there is a human side to doctors like any other person, and they also need to unwind and take a break from their stressful lives.
“Some subjects and professions make us sit up,disturb us and intrigue us if we are thinking individuals. That had prompted us to take up the medical profession,” said Shiboprasad, whose family has four medical practitioners. “I know it from experience how they want a break by donning funky, colorful garbs, want to go carefree in Goanese theme parties but again rush to the OT on getting an SOS,” he added.
Alik Sukh boasts of a powerful star cast including Rituparna Sengupta,Debshankar Halder,Sohini Sengupta and Soumitra Chatterjee.
Rituparna, who has essayed the character of Rambhali the motivator in the crisis-struck phase of the protagonist Dr Kingshuk (played by Debshankar),said the film was dedicated
to all life-savers. “As the tone and tenor of the film are concerned,we have tried to probe deep into the psyche of the doctors and people surrounding them. We did not treat the issue in an outward, superficial manner,” she said.
Shiboprasad and Nandita have earlier made two Bengali films Muktodhara and Ichhe which were runaway hits.
Dwelling on her visit to Cannes, where Alik Sukh was screened in the film market,Rituparna said,”I went there for the first time. It was an awesome experience. We got to meet many leading artistes.”
