Miss Shotgun Sinha aka Sonakshi Sinha garnered a good positive response from viewers on Day One of Akira’s release. The movie which revolves around her character impressed audience mainly for the kicks and punches thrown in by the actress in this female-centric drama.

The multiplex that we visited in the morning saw a moderate turnout with the audience comprising majorly of elderly citizens. Those we spoke to sounded appreciative of the actress’ decent turnout in the movie. Said a viewer, “Sonakshi was very nice in the movie. The kicks and punches thrown in by her were impressive. We really liked her in the film.”

Anurag Kashyap also received praise for his role as the ruthless police officer. While many especially sought to watch his acting avatar in the film, there were a few viewers who failed to recognise the eminent director.

This is the first time Sonakshi has taken up the mantle of doing a film that doesn’t have an A-list male superstar opposite her. The movie’s biggest talking point till now has only been the actress and the public response reiterates the fact that the movie strongly hinges upon her broad shoulders.

And the actress seems to have started well on Day One with the aam aadmi. What remains to be seen is if she can do a Kangana’s Queen with the film. On the flip side, however, is the average music which has failed to create any buzz in the market.

With a long weekend staring ahead and with Monday being a public holiday in Mumbai owing to Ganesh Chathurthi, the movie should do good business unless the smaller movies create a big upset.
