A day after Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor was tested positive for Swine flu while shooting for the Sooraj Barjatiya film Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, her co-star Salman Khan also underwent a H1N1 test on Sunday. She was flown back from Rajkot to Mumbai on Sunday morning.
Salman Khan, who stayed back and was shooting for the film in Gondal, was likely to go to Sasan Gir for a lion safari.
However, he cancelled his trip at the last moment and instead chose to take rest in Royal Orchard Palace in Gondal.The production team said that no shooting was done on Monday.
The state health department also confirmed the same. “After confirmation of Sonam Kapoor’s Swine flu reports, Salman Khan also underwent a test on Sunday but has been tested negative,” said commissioner health J P Gupta.
Also, Gujarat witnessed eight new deaths due to Swine flu on Monday. Another 152 fresh cases were also reported from the state in a single day Monday.
The death toll, said to be the highest from a state in the country, has reached 283 and 4,766 total cases have been reported since January 1.
Ahmedabad continued to be the epicentre with three deaths out of eight and 41 fresh cases out of total 152 reported on Monday. One death each was reported from Surat, Anand, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar, Rajkot and Amreli. After Ahmedabad, Surat recorded 18 new cases followed by Banaskantha with 13, Vadodara 12, Kutch and Rajkot 10 each, Amreli seven, Gandhinagar, Mehsana and Valsad five each, Patan four, Jamnagar and Bharuch three cases each.
While both the maximum and minimum temperatures fell from its normal levels, the daytime temperatures on Monday recorded a dip to as much as 8 degrees Celsius below normal. A temperature of 28.9 degree Celsius was the highest maximum temperature in the state recorded at Diu while 10.3 degree Celsius was the lowest minimum temperature recorded at Naliya.
On the other hand, relative humidity levels went up to nearly 90 per cent, though no rainfall was recorded on Monday till filing of this report.
As per the meteorological department, most of the parts would be sunny on Tuesday, Ahmedabad is predicted to have a cloudy sky with maximum temperature expected to be around 28 degree Celsius and minimum around 15 degree Celsius. Like most of the districts, Ahmedabad too recorded a major decline in the daytime temperature as compared to the night time.
The maximum temperature was recorded 8 degrees below normal temperature with 25.9 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 2 degrees below normal with 15.4 degree Celsius. Till Monday, Bhavnagar received the maximum rainfall of 36 millimetre followed by Mahua 23.6 millimetre, Idar 14.2, VV Nagar 12, Vadodara 9 millimetre, Valsad 8 millimetre, Veraval 4.4, Diu 3.4 and Rajkot 2.2 millimetre.
