
All’s well that ends well. After all the pre-release controversy and confusion, Karan Johar and his Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has finally won over the box office and is heading to a superb business.
The film, which opened on Friday with Rs 13.3 crore in box office earnings, saw a massive jump on Monday when it earned a spectacular Rs 17.75 crore and continued its victory march on Tuesday with over Rs 13 crore in earnings. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan in important roles, the film has managed to earn Rs 66.38 crore in the extended Diwali weekend.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ADHM Fri 13.30 cr, Sat 13.10 cr, Sun 9.20 cr, Mon 17.75 cr, Tue 13.03 cr [part holiday]. Total: ₹ 66.38 cr. India biz. SUPER!”
The film seems to have ended Ranbir Kapoor’s dry phase and has given the actor the hit he so needed. The film has also come as good news for Aishwarya as well who was yet to taste success after she made her comeback.
Taran had earler written about trends expected on Tuesday, “Biz jumps, grows, multiplies on Mon [holiday]… Both #ADHM and #Shivaay score… EXCELLENT trending all over… Tue should be STRONG too!”

The film is doing a shade better than Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay which also released this Friday. While the action-drama helmed by Devgn himself has earned over Rs 45 crore, Karan Johar’s film had earned over Rs 53 crore till Monday.
Internationally also, the film is enjoying a good run. In four days, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has collected Rs 45 crore (gross) at the overseas market. This makes the film Ranbir and Karan Johar’s highest opening weekend collection in the international market. As Taran Adarsh wrote, “#ADHM packs a SOLID PUNCH in intl markets… Opening weekend: $ 6.15 million [Rs 41.05 cr]… HIGHEST opening weekend for KJo and Ranbir. #ADHM continues its VICTORY MARCH in the international arena… Total till Mon: $ 6.55 million.”

Given the spectacular figures, the Karan Johar film has earned over Rs 120 crore gross within four days of its release. While Rs 45 crore gross came from international markets, the film earned Rs 76.21 crore gross domestically till Monday (its net earnings were a little over Rs 53 crore). This brought the total to Rs 121.21 crore.
