Dalip Tahil reacts after being sentenced to two months in jail for 2018 drink-driving case: ‘Didn’t injure anyone’

Actor Dalip Tahil has been sentenced to two months jail in a five-year-old drink-driving case. In 2018, he had rammed his car into an autorickshaw, injuring a woman.
According to reports, the 70-year-old actor was sentenced by a magistrate’s court following evidence of a medical expert, who said that the veteran was in an inebriated state when the accident happened.
According to Times Now, the evaluation by the doctor said that the smell of the alcohol was detected on him, and noted that he had an “unsteady gait, dilated pupils, and incoherent speech”.
Speaking to ANI, Dalip Tahil said he respects the decision, but will challenge the verdict in the higher court. The actor also said that the accident had caused “minor injuries” and he did not “injure” anyone.
“I respect judge and decisions taken in magistrate’s court. We are challenging the entire decision and the entire verdict in the higher court. We prefer to challenge the whole decision. It was a suspended sentence and most importantly I would like to say, there were minor injuries in the incident. I did not injure anyone,” he said in a statement.

In 2018, Dalip Tahil was involved in an accident in Mumbai’s Khar area, where he rammed his car into an autorickshaw. Reports claimed that a woman’s back and neck were injured in the collision. He was arrested by the Mumbai police back then but was later released on bail. A Dainik Bhaskar reports claimed that Tahil had refused to give blood samples after the accident.
Dalip Tahil has worked in several popular Hindi films, from Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Baazigar, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Race, and Mission Mangal, among others.
