The Mumbai Police issued summons to actor Arjun Rampal in connection with his alleged meeting with convicted gangster Arun Gawli in JJ Hospital late last year.
According to sources, the actor met Gawli in connection with an upcoming movie, where Rampal plays a role based on Gawli. “Rampal met Gawli in JJ Hospital on December 29, when Gawli was brought to the hospital for a medical check-up. The meeting took place in ward number four of the hospital when personnel at the JJ Marg police station got information about it and reached the spot. Rampal was told he could not meet Gawli without the court’s permission, after which Rampal left,” said a senior police officer.
The JJ Marg police subsequently issued summons to Rampal, asking him to appear before them. Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni said further course of action would be decided after the actor responded to the summons.
