Senior police officers said the medical test report of arrested Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi confirm that he was heavily under the influence of alcohol when he was allegedly involved in a pub brawl on Saturday night. A holiday court on Sunday remanded Pancholi in judicial custody after which he sought bail and is now out of custody.

Pancholi was arrested by the Santacruz police for allegedly assaulting a bouncer of a nightclub at a club of a five-star hotel in Juhu late on Saturday night.

“After the incident at around 12.30 am, Pancholi was taken into custody by the Santacruz police and underwent the mandatory medical tests before being produced before a court. The medical reports confirm that he was clearly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. There is no indication that Pancholi consumed any drugs that night,” said D O Jadhav, assistant commissioner of police, Santacruz division.

According to senior police officers, the ruckus began when Pancholi demanded that the DJ at the night club play Hindi dance numbers instead of English songs.

“The brawl began when a bouncer was escorting Pancholi out of the club and the actor hit the bouncer on his head with his mobile phone,” said Padmakar Chavan, senior inspector, Santacruz police station.

Chavan said the statements of the injured and the witnesses have been recorded by the police.

The bouncer is believed to have received three stitches on the head.

The Santacruz police has primarily charged Pancholi with voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and punishment for criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code.

“After being produced before a holiday court on Sunday, the judge remanded Pancholi in judicial custody. Following that order Pancholi sought bail after paying the amount Rs. 50,000,” Chavan added.

The police claim that Pancholi’s family members had approached officers on the night of the incident and informed them that Pancholi is still “disturbed by the demise of Jiah Khan”.

Pancholi’s son Suraj, who was allegedly in a live-in relationship with Khan, had been arrested in association with her suicide in 2013.
