The Aam Aadmi Party hasn't wasted much time in drawing attention to what it feels are similarities between what Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had said in one of his speeches, and what Shah Rukh Khan's character says near the end of his new film, Jawan. Spoilers for the movie follow In the film, Shah Rukh calls attention to farmer suicides and the healthcare system, and delivers a two-minute monologue about the importance of voting. In his monologue, the character urges citizens to be careful who they vote for, and to demand accountability from elected officials. He also encourages people to ask the right questions to candidates, and not get swept away by the promises they make. The AAP, on Thursday, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of Kejriwal's speech, in which the CM made similar points. - अगर… pic.twitter.com/ttufzwR1ac — AAP (@AamAadmiParty) September 7, 2023 The tweet read, "What @ArvindKejriwal ji has been saying for years, today SRK has also said that in the film Jawan. Jawan's dialogue - Instead of voting for fear, money, caste, religion, community, ask questions to those who come to ask for your vote. Ask them, what will you do for me in the next five years? If someone in my family falls ill, what will you do for his treatment? What will you do to get me a job? What will you do to take the country forward?" Directed by Atlee, Jawan delivered the biggest-ever opening for a Hindi-language film on Thursday, when it made Rs 75 crore in India. This beat the record set by Shah Rukh's own Pathaan earlier this year. Like Jawan, Pathaan was also noted for its political commentary.
