Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan, who will play the role of Mahavir Phoghat in his upcoming movie ‘Dangal’, recently met the wrestler’s daughters Babita and Geeta Phogat. The actor personally ensured that everything was taken care while the two sisters were in Mumbai.
Aamir’s spokesperson said: “Aamir was very keen to meet them, and all of their schedules finally matched. So the girls came down to Mumbai. Aamir was a gracious host and ensured that they were taken care of. It was an emotional meeting for the trio. They discussed Mahavir’s life, what he had taught the girls, and more.”
Geeta Phogat won country’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling in the 55 kg freestyle category at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. And in the senior women world wrestling championship held in Canada in September 2012, Geeta along with her sister Babita won the bronze medals.
Aamir Khan, who is all beefed up for his role in ‘Dangal’, wanted to meet the sisters to know about their father. He had long conversations with his daughters.
His spokesperson said: “He wants to understand his personality before starting to shoot for the film. The trio had a long conversation, where the girls provided him with insight into their own respective journeys and their lifestyle back home. They stayed in the city for a couple of days and are excited to see how the film will turn out.”
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Dangal’ is based on the real life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh and his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat and the relationship between them. The movie will go on floors in September this year.
