53-year-old Aamir Khan is all set to return to the screens with Thugs of Hindostan, which also stars his Dangal co-actor Fatima Sana Shaikh.
In a recent group interview, when indianexpress.com asked Aamir about the changes he saw in Fatima from their first project, he said, “Oh, she has done really well. Fatty (as she is fondly called) has some really tough action scenes in Thugs. But she is really hard working. I am really happy to see her grow. She has done a commendable job in the film.”
Aamir then spoke about Sanya Malhotra, who also played his daughter in Dangal. He said, “Sanya is also doing so well. She had two releases (Badhai Ho and Pataakha) recently, and both received praise. Although I couldn’t see any of it as I was busy, I will watch both the films. I am hoping that Fatty also does really well in her career. Even Zaira (Wasim) is doing another film (The Sky is Pink). Seeing these girls grow, I really feel happy and proud.”
When someone asked if it was a proud father speaking, the actor laughed to say, “I wish they treated me like a father. These girls have the utmost disrespect for me. You all should see how they behave around me.”
Stating that Thugs of Hindostan is perfect for the festive season, the actor further said, “TOH is not a historical film. There were reports that it was based on a book but it’s not. It’s an entirely fictitious story set in that period. It’s an action adventure, not a serious historical film. It isn’t also patriotic. It is a very universal and child-friendly film. Though there are action scenes, there is no blood and those (action) scenes are quite fun. It’s more like the films we used to watch in the 70s.”
Lastly, commenting on the increased ticket prices of Thugs, Aamir said, “I personally believe that ticket price should be cheaper. As a creative person, I want more and more people to watch my work. It will be my dream to have more economical theaters, where maximum people can get access to any film.”
“Having said that, this is an expensive film and I understand why the distributors (YRF) are doing this. I would also add that our Indian audience has not seen such a spectacle before. It would be worth their money,” the National Award-winning actor concluded.
