The end of the year is coming by soon, and Bollywood fans already have something to look forward to for next year. Actor-producer Aamir Khan and comedian-actor Vir Das just released a fun promotional video announcing their new film Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos. The comedy spy thriller will be Vir’s directorial debut as far as films go, as he has helmed his own comedy shows before.
In the video, released as a collaborative post by Aamir and Vir, the Taare Zameen Par actor can be seen sitting across from Vir and being visibly angry with him during the test screening of the film. In fact, the video begins with Aamir beating Vir up, but then it later goes into flashback and tells the viewers exactly why the comedian is getting pummelled. Aamir looks at Vir and says, “Kya banaya hai tune? Yeh film hai? Tune bola tha action hai film, spy thriller hai film. Kaha hai action? (What have you made? This is what you call a film? You told me that the film has action in it and that it is a spy thriller. Where is the action?)”
Vir quickly retorts and says, “There is action in the film, sir; there are a lot of fights.” Aamir looks at Vir, visibly getting more irritated, and says, “You call this action? You, the hero of the film, are getting beaten throughout the film, and you call this action? Tujhe stand-up comedy hi karna chahiye yaar. (You know, you should stick to stand-up comedy).” Vir is then asked about the missing romantic angle in the film, to which he clarifies that there is a woman, but Aamir quickly points out that even she is beating the crap out of him, and that doesn’t count as romance.
The actor is also cross with the fact that there isn’t a single ‘item’ song in the film, and the one that Vir has put in the film features just him in women’s clothing. Aamir says, “Flop! This film is a flop. In a few minutes these people will come out of the screening and will curse at us.” Vir replies, “Sir, everyone has a few flops; even you had Laal Singh Chaddha.” At this point, Aamir loses his cool and lands blows on Vir while saying, “Ek film kya flop bana di, sabke sab peeche padh gaye hai (You make one flop film, and everyone gets on your case).”
The comedian points out that it was Aamir who asked him to make a quirky and offbeat film. The actor replies, “I only say that for interviews.” At this point the screening ends and a very elated crowd comes out. They congratulate the duo on their decisions for the film, and Aamir takes the credit for the action, romance and the ‘item’ song in a not-so-subtle manner, as Vir stands there confused and possibly concussed. A small preview of the film then starts running, which shows Vir, Aamir and Imran Khan as part of the film.
According to IMDb, the cast of the film also includes Sanjay Dutt, Mona Singh, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Preity Zinta.
