On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, director Karan Johar and lead actor Kajol took to social media to express gratitude to the movie's fans for their unwavering love.
Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee in the lead roles.
Love it or hate it, but all Bollywood audiences would have watched Kuch Kuch Hota Hai at least once. In fact, few films can claim to have such a strong and divisive viewer base, which is precisely why Karan Johar’s first directorial, referred to as KKHH, remains a discussion point even two decades after its release.
The highest-grossing Indian film of 1998 and the third highest-grossing Indian film at that time, KKHH celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 16 and just like its fans, the cast and crew behind the movie too are also unable to contain their happiness and have taken to social media, commemorating this significant milestone.
Sharing a video depicting some of the iconic moments from the film, director Karan Johar thanked audiences for “showering unending love” on KKHH. “25 years ago is where it all began…and here we are today celebrating not just a film but an EMOTION for me and from all the love we get for it, I gather it is for everyone too,” he wrote on Instagram. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee in the lead roles. Apart from the trio, the flick also starred Salman Khan, Archana Puran Singh, Anupam Kher, and Johny Lever.
“Thank you for showering unending love for this tale of pyaar & dosti till today and thank you for marking my journey as a filmmaker for 25 years with such warmth. I will eternally be grateful to the people I am fortunate to work with, to the people I meet who watch my films and to the magic of MOVIES🧡🧡🧡,” Karan added. “Special mention always to @beingsalmankhan 🙏🏻,” he mentioned while concluding the note.

Heaping praise on the movie, actor Rakul Preet Singh commented: “A film that made everyone believe in love,” while fashion designer Manish Malhotra noted: “So much emotion, love and memories for life.”
On Sunday night, Karan had shared a series of images of him wearing a sweatshirt with “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” imprinted on it. “Tomorrow my journey in Films completes 25 years … can’t believe It’s been that long! #diltobachahaiji,” he wrote.

Kajol, meanwhile, marked the occasion by imitating one of the memorable appearances of her character Anjali. She posted a video of herself dressed in a black tracksuit and a black cap, with short hair, evoking nostalgia among her fans, especially since it also featured the iconic whistle background track.
“Stepping back into Anjali’s shoes after 25 years ( couldn’t find the basketball though 🙄). So many memories and love attached to this film… So glad that everyone loves it as much as I do,” she noted.
“A first for @karanjohar and a beginning to an amazing journey for @dharmamovies .. Fabulous music that still resonates, even today.. #kkhh is and always will be a labour of love 💖,” Kajol added.
“A film & emotion for an entire millennia!❤️ A story with characters, moments & music that left an indelible mark on your heart, taking you through the unforgettable journey of pyaar & dosti. Celebrating #25YearsOfKuchKuchHotaHai!🫶🤝 Special thanks to our Aman, @BeingSalmanKhan!🥹,” Dharma Productions, which bankrolled the movie, noted on Twitter.
