The West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test (WB TET) will now require that candidates complete a two-year teacher training programme or secure at least 50 per cent in their Higher Secondary Examinations in order to be considered eligible for the exam.
The notification for the examination will be released on Monday, October 9, 2017, which will include the exam date and other particulars. WB TET 2018 will be conducted for about 30,000 posts in the state.
“I have urged the Primary Education Board to issue a notification after the Board office opens on October 9 stipulating the two conditions as per the guidelines mentioned by the Department of School Education, Government of West Bengal,” said education minister Partha Chatterjee.
In a meeting with the Primary Education Board president Anik Bhattacharya on Thursday in Kolkata, Chatterjee announced the changes in the eligibility criteria for WB TET 2018, adding that candidates who have met the eligibility criteria can apply for the exam online.
