The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification of the Civil Services preliminary examination. The last date to submit the application form is May 27.
The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the preliminary examination followed by the main examination and an interview.
Those candidates who want to apply for the Indian Forest Service examination, they will have to attempt the preliminary examination and if they qualify, they’ll have to write the main examination followed by an interview round.
The Civil Services Exam is conducted by the UPSC to select candidates to fill administrative positions in different All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS.
A candidate is allowed six attempts for the civil services examination
A candidate applying for IFS exam must have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: animal husbandry and veterinary science, botany, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics, statistics and zoology, or a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, forestry or engineering from a recognised university.
General – 32 years
OBC – 35 years
SC/ ST – 37 years

Number of vacancies:
The number of vacancies to be filled on the result of the examination is 1079 which include 34 vacancies reserved for P.H. Category, i.e. 14 vacancies for LDCP, 7 Vacancies for B/LV and 13 Vacancies for H.I

Date of preliminary examination: August 7
Date of main examination: December 3
