The Supreme Court Tuesday reproached the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) over delay in completing the process of granting approval to technical colleges.
“We can exhibit exemplary ruthlessness… we are final as far as law is concerned. We will issue contempt to you. Let it be clear to all concerned. We know how to enforce our order,” said a vacation bench of Justices P C Ghose and Amitava Roy as the AICTE sought extension of the deadline for approval.
It cautioned AICTE against “tinkering” with the time schedule fixed by the court to grant annual approvals to technical colleges.
