Indian students applying for a postgraduate degree programme commencing from September 2016 at the UK-based University of Southampton can avail the interest-free loan scholarships offered by Mumbai-based Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation.
The scholarships are worth up to Rs 20 lakh and awarded on merit-basis to students with a consistently good academic record. The scholarships are applicable for course in the fields of Applied Sciences, Pure Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Law, Architecture and Management. The decision regarding the scholarships will be taken through an assessment process conducted by the Foundation.
The scholarship repayment will start one year after the completion of the programme in three installments over a period of three years.
Eligibility: The scholarship candidates must be Indian nationals and have secured a place at the University of Southampton for a postgraduate degree programme in the relevant subject area for the session starting from September 2016.
They must be less than 30 years old and must be either graduates from a reputed university or awaiting their final results.
Those in the final year of a degree course can also apply for the scholarship. While students who are awaiting the University’s decision on their application can apply for the funding, the scholarship will be awarded only subject to them securing admission.
Scholarship application fee: Rs 500
Selection process: The students can apply for the scholarships in February 2016 through online registration on NarotamSekhsaria Foundation’s website. Following a screening process, the shortlisted candidates will be updated between April and May.
The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a mandatory personal interview in Mumbai in June 2016. The final list of scholars will be announced in June end or July first week.
