Kyrgyzstan: ‘Situation normal in Bishkek, but classes in online mode,’ says Indian Embassy
The Indian Embassy has also informed students and their families that the air connectivity between Bishkek and Delhi remains operational.

Days after mobs targeted foreigners in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, the Embassy of India Bishkek has issued a statement saying ‘no untoward incident has been reported in Bishkek during the past few days’.
As per the official figures shared by the Government of India, at present, there are about 17,000 Indian students in the Kyrgyz Republic, spread across many cities. However, the majority of the students are in Bishkek, where violence erupted a few days ago.
“The Embassy has been concerned at the recent incidents of violence against foreign students in Bishkek. However, due to swift action by the Kyrgyz authorities, the situation in Bishkek has returned to normal. No untoward incident has been reported in Bishkek during the past few days. There are no restrictions on the movement of transport or people. However, as a measure of precaution, the classes are being conducted in an online mode,” the official statement read.
Officials have also urged students and family members of the students to not pay attention to rumours being spread by “some mischievous elements.”
The Embassy also informed students and their families that the Indian Ambassador visited the Jalal-Abad State University on May 18 and the International Higher School of Medicine in Bishkek on May 22, and interacted with the Indian students there. Embassy officials visited the International Medical University and the Eurasian Medical University on May 21 and to the Royal Metropolitan University and to the Avicenna University on May 22 to continue this interaction with the students and to address their concerns.
Meanwhile, Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh also took to ‘X’ to share that about 1200 students from Madhya Pradesh studying in Kyrgyzstan are safe and will be called back home after the upcoming exams. “Two officials of the Indian Embassy met the students and enquired about their well-being. There is no untoward report and the situation there is under control,” he said.
The Indian Embassy has also informed students and their families that the air connectivity between Bishkek and Delhi remains operational and flights to India can also be availed via Almaty, Dubai, Istanbul, Sharjah and Tashkent. The local transport to Manas International Airport in Bishkek remains accessible to Indian students.

“Students are, however, advised to remain vigilant and follow the guidelines laid down by the authorities in Kyrgyz Republic. In case of any issue, students can contact the Embassy at 0555710041, 0555005538,” an official X post from the Indian Embassy added.
