In a bid to decrease burden on school staff from preparing various types of information pertaining to schools, the higher authorities have asked all government and government aided schools to upload the latest data on the e-Punjab school portal. Though, this is a mandatory process, but a large number of schools have not been following it despite repeated instructions by the officials.
The portal will have details about the number of students in every class, their performance, total number of teachers in a school, vancancies, requirement of teachers, infrastructure information among others.
If portal manages to work smoothly, then, one can avail information of all the state schools with just a single click, thereby sparing the trouble of gathering information from the field.
With nodal officers been appointed for this purpose, 15-20 schools will now get updated information from time to time. For instance, if a teacher has been transferred from one school to another, the movement will be immediately updated and the record will reflect in the portal. Similarly, the record of students will also be maintained.
“This will save a lot of time. Now, whenever we need information about any individual school, we can simply get it from the portal,” said District Education Officer HS Singh.
“If the process has been implemented than it should be followed properly ,” he added.
However, teachers have a different story to tell.
According to them, even after updating all the information pertaining to schools in the portal, the seniors want the files to handed to them in person.
