NEET UG exam is on May 3, students need to bring the admit cards along with ID proof
Under current NEET exam rules, candidates are permitted to take the question paper out of the examination centre after the exam concludes on May 3. However, the OMR answer sheet must be submitted to the invigilator before leaving. No part of the OMR sheet can be taken outside the examination hall. The question paper retained by candidates is later used to cross-check answers against the provisional answer key released by NTA.
After NEET UG 2026 is conducted on May 3, NTA is expected to release the provisional answer key along with scanned OMR sheets on the official website. Candidates will then have a designated window to raise objections against answers they believe are incorrect. The final answer key and NEET UG 2026 results are expected to be declared in June 2026, after which the counselling process will commence.
NEET UG 2026 scores will be used for two separate streams of counselling. The All India Quota (AIQ) covers 15% of MBBS and BDS seats and is conducted centrally. The state quota covers 85% of seats and is managed by each state's individual counselling authority. Additionally, 15 AIIMS campuses and 2 JIPMER campuses also accept NEET scores for admissions, making NEET the gateway to the most prominent government medical institutions in the country.
NEET UG 2026 qualifying cutoffs are expected to follow the established pattern: 50th percentile for General category candidates, 40th percentile for OBC, SC, and ST candidates, and 45th percentile for PwD General category candidates. Qualifying the cutoff makes a candidate eligible to participate in the counselling process, but does not in itself guarantee a seat in any medical or dental institution. Actual seat allotment depends on marks, rank, and category.
Among the three subjects in NEET UG 2026, Biology accounts for the largest portion: 90 questions out of the total 180, and 360 marks out of the maximum 720. The Biology section is split equally between Botany and Zoology. Physics and Chemistry contribute 45 questions and 180 marks each. Coaching institutes and educators consistently identify Biology — particularly NCERT Class 11 and 12 content — as the subject offering the greatest scope for score-building in NEET.
Once candidates clear security checks and frisking at the NEET UG 2026 exam centre, they will be directed to specific, pre-assigned seats by invigilators. Candidates must occupy only their designated seat throughout the examination. Sitting in a different seat or moving without explicit permission from invigilators is a violation of exam rules and can attract disciplinary action, including disqualification.
Once the admit card is issued, the examination centre allotted to a candidate becomes final. NTA does not entertain requests for exam centre changes under normal circumstances after the admit card is released. Candidates are expected to check the allotted centre details on the admit card as soon as it is downloaded from neet.nta.nic.in and make all necessary travel arrangements in advance.
Persons with Disability (PwD) or Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates appearing for NEET UG 2026 must carry their valid PwD certificate to the examination centre on May 3, in addition to the printed admit card. NTA had earlier opened a dedicated portal for PwD candidates to opt for a scribe. Candidates who have been allotted a scribe must also carry relevant scribe-related documentation as prescribed by NTA.
In 2018, approximately 13.3 lakh students appeared for NEET UG. By 2026, that number has grown to approximately 22.6 lakh registered candidates — a near-doubling in eight years. This growth reflects the increasing demand for medical education in India, as well as the consolidation of various state-level and institution-level medical entrance tests into a single national examination starting 2019.
NEET UG 2026 will be conducted in 14 international cities to cater to Indian nationals, NRI, and OCI candidates residing abroad. The exam's international reach has expanded significantly over the years, reflecting the increasing number of overseas applicants seeking admission to Indian medical institutions. International candidates are advised to check time zone differences when anticipating the admit card release, which is scheduled for April 26 in Indian Standard Time.
NTA prepares four different sets of NEET UG question papers for each examination. In 2025, the four sets were labelled numerically as 45, 46, 47, and 48. While the questions remain the same across all four sets, the sequence and arrangement of questions differ between sets.
NEET UG was first introduced in 2013 as a replacement for multiple state-level and institution-level medical entrance tests. Following legal challenges that delayed its uniform implementation, it became the sole medical entrance examination for MBBS and BDS admissions across all government and private medical and dental colleges in India from 2019. Since then, no state-level medical entrance exam holds any value for MBBS and BDS admissions, making NEET the single national gateway for medical aspirants across the country.
An important clarification from NTA: receiving the NEET UG 2026 admit card does not in itself confirm a candidate's eligibility for the examination. NTA scrutinises eligibility at subsequent stages of the admission process, particularly during counselling. Candidates whose eligibility documents are found to be inconsistent with the declared information at the time of application may face rejection even after having sat for the exam.
The Supreme Court of India struck down the upper age limit for NEET, meaning there is no upper age restriction for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026. Any candidate who meets the minimum age requirement of 17 years by December 31, 2026, and satisfies the educational qualification criteria is eligible to appear, regardless of their current age. This ruling has significantly broadened the eligible candidate base for the examination over recent years.
Against the backdrop of controversies in previous years, NTA has repeatedly stated in official communications ahead of NEET UG 2026 that the examination will be conducted in a completely free, fair, and transparent manner. Enhanced security measures have been introduced this year, including Aadhaar-based biometric authentication at examination centres, as part of steps to prevent impersonation and malpractice.
Under current NEET exam rules, candidates are permitted to take the question paper out of the examination centre after the exam concludes on May 3. However, the OMR answer sheet must be submitted to the invigilator before leaving. No part of the OMR sheet can be taken outside the examination hall. Reversing its earlier announcement, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2026 admit cards on April 26. At 11:16 am today, NTA had posted on X that the admit cards would be available by Monday morning by 10 am. However, within ten hours, the agency issued a fresh notice confirming that the admit cards were out and could be downloaded from neet.nta.nic.in.

A qualifying NEET UG 2026 score is the entry point to undergraduate programmes across multiple streams of medicine: MBBS, BDS, BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy), BUMS (Unani), BSMS (Siddha), BNYS (Naturopathy and Yoga), BVSc and AH (Veterinary), and B.Sc. Nursing. There are 542 medical colleges, 313 dental colleges, and 914 AYUSH colleges in India, along with 15 AIIMS campuses, all of which accept NEET scores for admissions.
To be eligible for NEET UG 2026, candidates must be at least 17 years of age by December 31, 2026. They must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English as subjects. Indian citizens, NRIs, OCI holders, PIOs, and foreign nationals are all eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for NEET UG 2026, following a Supreme Court ruling that struck it down.

NTA opened NEET UG 2026 registration on February 8, 2026. The initial deadline of March 8 was later extended to March 11, 2026. The application fee stood at Rs 1,700 for General category candidates, Rs 1,600 for EWS and OBC-NCL candidates, and Rs 1,000 for SC, ST, and PwBD applicants. Approximately 22.6 lakh candidates completed the registration process across all categories.
The NEET UG 2026 admit card is a multi-page document. Candidates must ensure they download and print all pages of the admit card PDF — not just the first page. Missing even one page can create verification difficulties at the examination centre. All pages must be printed together and kept intact as a complete set before heading to the exam centre on May 3.
In addition to the printed admit card, candidates must carry a valid government-issued photo ID to the exam centre on May 3. Accepted identity documents include Aadhaar card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, and Ration Card (with photo). NTA officials will cross-verify the name and photograph on the admit card against the original ID document at the entry gate before allowing candidates in.
NEET UG 2026 is being conducted in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The admit card will reflect the language medium the candidate selected at the time of registration. The question paper will be provided to candidates only in their registered language, and no change of medium is permitted after registration.
NTA has a specific provision for diabetic NEET UG 2026 candidates: they are permitted to carry sugar tablets and fresh fruits such as bananas or oranges into the examination centre. However, packed or processed food items remain strictly prohibited for all candidates, including those with medical conditions. A medical certificate establishing the need for these items may be required at the centre gate.
NTA's list of items banned inside NEET UG 2026 examination centres includes calculators, log tables, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, pencil boxes, geometry sets, slide rulers, any printed or written material, and packed food items. Violation of these rules can lead to disqualification from the examination. The full list of prohibited items will also be printed on the NEET UG 2026 admit card.
NTA's instructions are clear that candidates must not sign their NEET UG 2026 admit card at home before leaving for the exam centre. The signature must be made in the presence of invigilators at the exam centre, and only after they instruct the candidate to do so. Signing the document in advance is a violation of the exam-day protocol specified in the instructions that will be printed on the admit card.
Candidates have two photograph requirements on NEET UG 2026 exam day. A passport-size photograph (matching the one submitted during registration) must be pasted in the designated space on the printed admit card. Additionally, a postcard-sized photograph (4"x6") must be pasted in a separate designated area on the admit card before entering the exam centre. Both photographs must match the image uploaded during the application process exactly.
The NEET UG 2026 admit card is not just an exam day document. It is required at multiple stages of the admission process — including counselling, seat allotment, and institute reporting. Candidates are advised to preserve multiple copies of the printed admit card and keep a backed-up version on DigiLocker (digilocker.gov.in) for use during post-result document verification.
NTA has confirmed that duplicate NEET UG 2026 admit cards will not be issued to any candidate under any circumstances. If a candidate loses their printed copy, no replacement will be provided by the agency. This makes it important for candidates to download and preserve multiple printed copies as soon as the admit card is released on neet.nta.nic.in on April 27.
For NEET UG 2026, NTA has reverted to the pre-COVID examination format. This means all 180 questions across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology must be attempted — there is no optional section or internal choice within any subject. This is a change from the COVID-era pattern where candidates had the option to choose a set number of questions from certain sections. The total marks remain unchanged at 720.
NEET UG 2026 will have 180 questions in total: 45 from Physics, 45 from Chemistry, and 90 from Biology (split equally between Botany and Zoology). The total marks available are 720. Each correct answer carries +4 marks, while each incorrect response attracts a deduction of 1 mark. Questions left unanswered carry no penalty. There is no internal choice or optional section — all 180 questions are compulsory.
NTA has made it explicitly clear that digital or soft copies of the NEET UG 2026 admit card will not be accepted at examination centres. Candidates must carry a printed hard copy on exam day. Anyone arriving with only a mobile screenshot or a PDF on their phone will be denied entry. Multiple printed copies are recommended given the three-hour journey that many candidates undertake to reach their allotted centres.
In a new security measure for NEET UG 2026, candidates will be required to undergo Aadhaar-based biometric authentication at their exam centre on the day of the exam — May 3, 2026. This is aimed at preventing impersonation and strengthening the integrity of the examination process. This step has been added to existing verification procedures and is expected to be detailed further in the instructions printed on the admit card once it is released.
The NEET UG 2026 admit card will carry the candidate's full name, roll number, application number, photograph, date of birth, exam centre name and full address, exam city, reporting time, exam language selected during registration, category, and detailed instructions for exam day. Candidates must verify every detail on the document immediately upon downloading, as any discrepancy must be reported to NTA's helpdesk without delay.
The City Intimation Slip released by NTA on April 12, 2026, only indicates which city a candidate's exam centre is located in. It does not carry the full centre address, roll number, reporting time, or exam-day instructions. The NEET UG 2026 admit card — expected by April 27 is a separate document that carries all of these details. The City Slip cannot be used as a hall ticket and will not be accepted at examination centres.
NTA has announced that 99.2% of the registered candidates for NEET UG 2026 were allotted their first-preference exam city. The near-universal fulfilment of city preferences reflects the agency's logistical handling of over 22 lakh applications. The exam city had already been communicated through the City Intimation Slip released on April 12, 2026. The admit card releasing on April 26 will carry the specific exam centre address within the allotted city.
To access and download the NEET UG 2026 admit card, candidates will need to log in using their Application Number along with either their Date of Birth or Password. A Security PIN or Captcha will also be required to complete the login. These are the same credentials used during the NEET UG 2026 registration process. Candidates without these details will not be able to access their hall ticket from the official portal.
Approximately 22.6 lakh candidates have registered for NEET UG 2026, making it one of the largest cohorts ever to sit for this examination. A practical last-week NEET plan should include:
--Light revision slots
--Selective question practice
--One or two full-length mock tests at most. The goal of mocks now is not to chase scores but to reinforce exam temperament.
--More important than taking a paper is reviewing it calmly. Where did time go? Which mistakes were silly? Which questions were left due to panic? These answers matter more than the rank estimate.
--Students must also prepare for the exam environment itself.
--Sleep should be fixed according to exam timing. If the paper is in the afternoon, the brain should begin adjusting to peak alertness during those hours.
--Admit card, photo ID, stationery, travel plan, and reporting time should be checked in advance. Reducing logistical stress can protect mental energy on the actual day.
Most importantly, aspirants must protect their mindset. In the final week, negative conversations, topper comparisons, and social media strategy videos can become dangerous distractions. Trust your own preparation.

NTA will issue admit cards for NEET UG 2026
She emphasised that conceptual clarity was prioritised over aggressive question-solving in the early stages. “Building strong fundamentals by attending lectures and practising daily was the base,” she said.
Mock tests played a central role in preparation, especially during the drop year. Full-length tests were used not only to assess performance but also to identify patterns of errors. According to she, analysing mistakes was as important as taking the test itself.
In Physics, many questions come from areas like motion, force and energy, gravitation, properties of matter, heat and thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, optics, modern physics, and electronics. These chapters demand quick recall of formulas, conditions, and sign conventions.
In Chemistry, formulas, rules, and mnemonics are equally important across all three branches. In Physical Chemistry, topics such as mole concept, solutions, thermodynamics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, and chemical kinetics depend heavily on accurate formula recall.
In Biology, success largely depends on how well a student remembers NCERT statements, definitions, rules, cycles, and sequences. Topics like cell division, plant physiology, human physiology, genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, ecology, and evolution contain many lists and pathways that are difficult to recall under pressure.
The Rajasthan government will set up a comprehensive well-being centre in every medical college, along with the establishment of a state-level mental health welfare cell, an official statement said.
Medical Education Commissioner Naresh Goyal issued the directions during the first meeting of the state-level task force constituted for the mental health and well-being of medical students.
“Practice as many questions as possible, analyse your mistakes, and don’t ignore your health,” — these were the three non-negotiables that shaped her NEET UG preparation of Vaishnavi Rathod. The approach helped her score 700 marks in the NEET UG in her first attempt, securing admission to AIIMS New Delhi for MBBS at the age of 18. Hailing from Yavatmal, Maharashtra, Vaishnavi says consistency mattered more than chasing perfect study sessions during her preparation phase.
The Jharkhand government has sent a proposal to the National Medical Commission (NMC) to increase undergraduate and postgraduate seats in various medical colleges to address the shortage of specialist doctors in the state, an official said on Sunday.
Preparations are also underway to introduce postgraduate courses in the state’s three new medical colleges. In this regard, a proposal has been submitted to increase the number of seats across various disciplines by 21 in Dumka, 30 in Hazaribag, and 21 in Palamu, he said.
The Union government has approved 11,682 MBBS seats and 8,967 postgraduate (PG) seats for the academic year 2025–26, while 43 new medical colleges have been established across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed the Rajya Sabha.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel said the data was shared by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The figures include seats in medical colleges as well as institutions such as AIIMS and other Institutes of National Importance (INIs).
According to the ministry’s data placed in Rajya Sabha, India’s medical education capacity has expanded significantly in the past decade. The number of medical colleges has increased from 387 in 2014 to 818 at present. During the same period, UG (MBBS) seats rose from 51,348 to 1,28,976, while PG seats increased from 31,185 to 85,020.
Members of the Resident Doctors Association and the Student Association of AIIMS Delhi, along with faculty from AIIMS Delhi, Nagpur, Patna and RML, have sought the implementation of the National Exit Test (NExT) for MBBS students. They said it addresses shortcomings in existing university and postgraduate entrance examinations and offers a streamlined, competency-based assessment system.
In an editorial published last month in the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, titled “Immediate NExT rollout is vital for MBBS students and the medical education ecosystem of India”, the doctors said current undergraduate medical assessments are inconsistent and fragmented.
They added that these exams are often poorly aligned with competency-based training. The authors said NExT aims to introduce a uniform, transparent and clinically relevant evaluation framework.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges, institutions and universities to charge MBBS fees only for the prescribed academic duration of four-and-a-half years, and not for the entire five or five-and-a-half-year course period.
The commission said it has received multiple complaints that some medical institutions are collecting fees from students for the full duration of the MBBS programme, including the compulsory internship period. It clarified that such practices are not aligned with the academic structure of the course and lead to students being charged for periods that do not involve formal teaching.
Students will be able to download the admit cards p from: neet.nta.nic.in.
NTA has asked students to bring valid ID proof on the exam day. Without ID proof, students will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. At the same time, NTA’s exam centre will provide pens to students to fill the OMR sheets; NEET UG aspirants have to rely on that. On the dress code, NTA has asked students to wear simple, light clothes. The Agency has further asked students to avoid full sleeveless clothes, accessories and heavy items.
The NEET UG 2026 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate) is the single national-level medical entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, BSc Nursing, BVSc & AH and other undergraduate medical courses across India. NEET UG 2026 will be held on May 3, 2026 (Sunday) in a single shift.
If any candidate experiences difficulty in downloading or checking the examination admit card for NEET (UG) – 2026, they may contact NTA at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700 or send an email to neetug2026@nta.ac.in.
Of the total candidates registering for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026, about 99.2 per cent have been allotted their first choice of exam cities, National Testing Agency (NTA) data reveals. On April 26, the NTA will release the NEET UG 2026 admit cards with the exam centre details. The NEET UG 2026 exam date is May 3. The NEET UG city slips were released on April 12.
While filling up the NEET UG 2026 online application form, candidates were given the provision to select three convenient cities as their exam centre choice of cities in order of their priority, except in certain cases where only one or two options may be available based on the address criteria. The choice of centre cities was limited to the state of permanent address or state of present address only.
With the national-level medical entrance exam just weeks away, and amid recurring concerns over paper leak allegations in previous years, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has cautioned NEET UG 2026 aspirants against fraudulent social media channels, particularly on Telegram, claiming to offer access to exam papers. Acting on multiple complaints, the agency has warned candidates against falling for such claims and said strict legal action is being initiated against those spreading misinformation.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has advised all medical colleges and institutions across the country not to grant leave to students on May 2 and 3, 2026, ahead of the NEET UG scheduled for May 3. The directive has been issued as a preventive measure to safeguard the integrity of the national-level entrance examination.
In a public notice dated April 23, 2026, the NMC said the instruction follows a communication from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, stressing the need to ensure the “sanctity and integrity” of the examination process.
“Take risks in mock tests, learn from them, and don’t carry that confusion into the final exam” — This is one of the key last-week strategies shared by Mohamed Rehan, a NEET top scorer who cleared the national-level entrance last year and is now pursuing MBBS at Government Medical College, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
According to him, the final stretch before the exam is less about learning new concepts and more about sharpening decision-making, especially when dealing with tricky or uncertain questions.
With NEET UG 2026 scheduled for May 3, and barely a week left for an estimated 20 lakh aspirants, the focus now shifts to revision, time management, and dealing with exam temperament. Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Rehan, 19, from Chennai, reflects on what helped him navigate the final days before the exam — from handling second-guessing in mocks to staying composed during a difficult paper.
NEET UG is the sole gateway to MBBS and BDS admissions in all government and private medical and dental colleges across India. No state-level medical entrance exam carries value for these admissions anymore.
(1) Stop covering new topics
(2) Revise NCERT Biology thoroughly — line by line
(3) Solve at least 2 full-length mock tests before May 3
(4) Focus on high-yield chapters in Chemistry and Physics
(5) Sleep at least 7-8 hours daily this week.
Candidates need to paste a postcard-sized photograph (4"x6") in the designated space on the admit card before entering the exam centre. This photo must be identical to the one uploaded during the NEET 2026 application.
For every correct answer in NEET UG 2026, candidates earn 4 marks. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark is deducted (negative marking). Questions left unanswered carry no mark and no penalty. With 180 questions worth 720 marks, even a single unanswered Biology question costs a candidate 4 marks.
If candidates are unable to download their admit card after it is released or face login issues, they can reach NTA's official helpdesk.
NEET UG 2026 will be conducted in 14 international cities, catering to Indian nationals and NRI/OCI candidates residing abroad.
Save your Application Number
Remember your Date of Birth / Password
Keep your photo ID proof handy
On exam day, the invigilator will cross-check details on the admit card with the candidate's original ID proof. If there is a mismatch — even in name spelling — the candidate can be denied entry to the examination.
NEET UG 2026 scores will be used for two types of counselling: All India Quota (AIQ) — covering 15% of MBBS/BDS seats, conducted centrally — and State Quota — covering 85% of seats, managed individually by each state's counselling authority. 15 AIIMS and 2 JIPMER campuses also accept NEET scores.
Once NEET 2026 results are declared in June, the counselling process will follow. Candidates should start gathering these documents now: Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates, NEET scorecard, Category certificate (if applicable), Domicile certificate, Passport-size photographs, and of course, the NEET 2026 admit card.
With less than 24 hours until the admit card release, candidates must retrieve and safely save their NEET 2026 Application Number and Date of Birth/Password tonight. NTA recommends keeping these credentials at hand to avoid last-minute panic when the admit card link goes live.
After NEET UG 2026 on May 3, NTA is expected to release the provisional answer key, along with scanned OMR sheets, on its website for candidates to review. Candidates will have a window to raise objections. The final answer key and results are expected in June 2026.
Among the three subjects in NEET, Biology carries the most weight — 90 out of 180 questions, and 360 out of 720 marks.

NTA will not dispatch physical admit cards by post or courier to any candidate. The hall ticket is exclusively available as a digital download from neet.nta.nic.in
If candidates face trouble downloading their NEET 2026 admit card, education experts recommend: (1) Clearing browser cache and cookies, (2) Switching to a different browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended), (3) Trying on a different device, (4) Attempting at a non-peak hour to avoid server congestion
Once the admit card is issued, the exam centre is permanently fixed. NTA has made it clear that requests for exam centre changes will not be entertained under normal circumstances. Candidates are advised to check their allotted centre on the admit card and make travel arrangements accordingly.
A qualifying score in NEET UG 2026 is the gateway to: MBBS, BDS, BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy), BUMS (Unani), BSMS (Siddha), BNYS (Naturopathy), BVSc & AH (Veterinary), and B.Sc. Nursing programmes. There are 542 medical, 313 dental, and 914 AYUSH colleges, plus 15 AIIMS campuses accepting NEET scores.
Persons with Disability (PwD) or Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates must carry their PwD certificate along with the admit card. NTA had earlier opened a special portal for PwD candidates to opt for their own scribe. These candidates should also carry scribe-related documents as
While NTA does not mandatorily require a coloured printout of the NEET admit card, it is strongly recommended. A colour print makes the photograph, QR code, and other details clearly visible without ambiguity, speeding up the verification process at the exam centre gate.
Apart from the admit card, candidates must carry a valid government-issued photo ID on exam day. Accepted IDs include: Aadhaar card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, and Ration Card (with photo). NTA officers will cross-verify the admit card details with the ID proof at the entry gate.
If a candidate finds any discrepancy in their NEET 2026 admit card — whether in name spelling, photograph, roll number, or exam centre — they must immediately contact NTA's NEET helpdesk through official channels. Do not wait. Contact details are available on the official NEET portal.
The entry gate at NEET 2026 exam centres will open at 11:00 AM on May 3. However, the last entry into the examination hall will close at 1:30 PM. Candidates arriving after 1:30 PM will not be permitted to sit for the exam under any circumstances. NTA strongly advises arriving at least an hour before the last entry time.
The NEET UG 2026 admit card is a multi-page document. Candidates must ensure they download all pages of the admit card PDF. Missing even one page could create issues at the examination centre during verification. Print all pages together and keep them intact
One common mistake candidates make is signing their admit card at home before going to the exam centre. NTA has issued clear instructions that candidates must NOT sign the admit card in advance. The signature must be done in the presence of invigilators, only after they give the instruction to do so
An important reminder: NTA will provide ballpoint pens at the examination centre. Candidates are NOT permitted to carry their own gel pens, fountain pens, or pencils. This is a strict rule. Attempting to bring your own pen could attract suspicion during the frisking process.
Your NEET UG 2026 admit card is not just needed on exam day. It is a critical document throughout the admission process — you will need it at the time of counselling, seat allotment, and institute reporting.
NTA has confirmed that duplicate NEET UG 2026 admit cards will not be issued under any circumstances. If a candidate loses their admit card, they will not be given a replacement. This is precisely why downloading and storing multiple printouts as soon as the card is released is critically important
In a student-friendly provision, NTA permits diabetic NEET candidates to carry sugar tablets and fruits (like bananas or oranges) to the exam centre. However, packed or processed foods are strictly prohibited. A medical certificate may be required to establish the need for these items.
Candidates must NOT bring: calculators, log tables, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smart watches, pencil boxes, geometry sets, slide rulers, any written or printed material, or packed food items. Violation of these rules will lead to disqualification from the examination.
NTA has not specified an exact time for the admit card release on April 26. However, based on past patterns, education portals expect the link to go active either late at night on April 25 or during the early morning hours of April 26.
Candidates must paste a passport-size photograph (same as the one submitted with the application form) on the admit card before going to the exam centre. The photo must be the same as uploaded during registration — using a different photo may lead to verification issues at the centre gate.

In a key update for NEET 2026, candidates will need to undergo Aadhaar-based biometric authentication at their exam centre on the day of the exam. This is a new security measure introduced by NTA to prevent impersonation and ensure the integrity of the examination process
