NEET UG results of 1,563 candidates issued on June 4 stand cancelled & withdrawn: SC

The NTA said the retest will be notified on Thursday itself and that it is likely to be held on June 23. The results of the retest will be declared before June 30 so that the counselling process, which is set to begin on July 6, is not affected.

The Supreme Court was hearing a plea which challenged the award of the grace marks. Taking note of the submissions, the bench disposed of the petition.

The bench also clarified that it is not stopping the counselling. “Why should we delay counselling and admission?” asked the court.

Agrawal told the court that following the controversy over the grace marks, meetings were held on June 10, 11 and 12 wherein it was proposed to cancel the scorecards and hold a retest.

The bench said in its order, “According to the recommendations of the committee, it has been suggested that the score-cards of the affected 1,563 candidates issued on June 4, 2024 will stand cancelled and withdrawn. These affected 1,563 candidates will be informed of their actual scores without compensatory marks.”

It added, “Further, re-test will be conducted for the 1,563 candidates. The results of candidates who do not wish to appear for the re-exam will be declared on their actual marks without compensation obtained by them in the May 5 examination and the marks of those who will appear in the retest will be considered and their marks based on the examination held on May 5, 2024, will be discarded.”
