More than 68 lakh students will appear for the High School and Intermediate examinations conducted by the UP Board of Secondary Education beginning Thursday. A total of 68,21,869 students, including 37,49,977 of high school and 30,71,892 of Intermediate, will take the exam today. This includes 126 high school and 153 intermediate candidates who are lodged in different jails of the state.

Secondary education minister Balram Yadav claimed that the state government has nominated sector magistrates at district levels to ensure that the examinations are held in a fair manner. All photocopy shops near examination centres will remain closed during examination, he said.

For transparency, a mobile application has been prepared which will give details about the total number of students appearing in the examination on a particular day. Meanwhile, 31 other districts have been declared sensitive for copying and answer sheets used at these districts will bear numbering. Yadav also appealed to parents to motivate their wards to stay away from copying.
