JEE Main 2025 04 April Shift 1 Paper Analysis: The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) Btech, BE paper held on the third day of the April 2025 session comprised of mathematics, physics and chemistry papers of 300 marks. The JEE Main day 3 exam was held in two shifts, first from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift between 3 pm and 6 pm.
The JEE Main BTech January 2025 paper comprises of three subjects – physics, chemistry and mathematics. All the subjects have two sections – 1 and 2. Section 1 has 20 multiple-choice questions with single correct answer and section 2 has five numerical-based questions.
JEE Main 2025 Session 2: April 4 Morning Shift Analysis
According to Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash Educational Services Limited, the morning session paper was moderate in overall difficulty. The paper was well-structured and error-free, allowing students to attempt all questions comfortably.
Among the three sections, physics and chemistry ranged from easy to moderate, while mathematics was the most challenging. The question distribution was balanced across topics, Sharma added.
Subject-wise the director said, the physics section was easy to moderate, with a strong emphasis on numerical and formula-based questions. Major topics such as mechanics, modern physics, electrostatics, optics, and units and measurements were well-represented. However, AC and magnetism, rotation, and EMI had fewer questions. While some questions were time-consuming, most were straightforward, making this section a high-scoring opportunity.
The Chemistry section was also easy to moderate. It featured many statement-based questions, which were straightforward and easy to score. Almost all chapters were covered, but inorganic chemistry had the highest weightage, while physical and organic chemistry were moderately represented. Most theoretical questions were directly from NCERT, and physical chemistry had fewer numerical questions, he said.
Mathematics was moderate to difficult, with well-distributed questions across various topics. Matrices, 3D geometry, vectors, and conic sections had significant weightage, while calculus had comparatively fewer questions. Some problems were lengthy and time-consuming, making time management a crucial factor in this section.
JEE Main 2025 Session 2: April 4 Evening Shift Analysis
According to Sharma, the JEE Main paper conducted on the evening shift of April 4 was moderate in overall difficulty. It was well-structured and balanced, covering all chapters uniformly. Among the three sections, Physics and Chemistry ranged from easy to moderate, while Mathematics was the most challenging due to some lengthy, calculation-intensive questions. The question distribution was well-balanced across topics.
The Physics section was easy, with a strong emphasis on numerical and formula-based questions. All major topics, including Mechanics, Modern Physics, Electrostatics, Optics, and Units & Measurements, were well-represented. While some questions were time-consuming, most were straightforward and high-scoring.
The Chemistry section was easy to moderate, featuring many statement-based questions that were easy to score. Almost all chapters were covered, with Inorganic, Physical, and Organic Chemistry being almost equally represented. Most theoretical questions were directly from NCERT, while Physical Chemistry had fewer numerical questions but more statement-based ones.
The Mathematics was moderate to difficult, with well-distributed questions across various topics. Conic Sections had significant weightage, while Matrices, 3D Geometry, Vectors, and Calculus had comparatively fewer questions. Some problems were lengthy and time-consuming, making time management crucial, and this section challenging for many students.
JEE Main 2025 Live: Updates on answer key, feedback from candidates
The JEE Main question paper held on the first day, April 2, according to experts in the field, covered almost all chapters of Class 11 and Class 12 CBSE board. Candidates who appeared for the BE, BTech paper of JEE Main shift 1 exam found the paper “balanced but lengthy” and shift 2 exam “moderate”.
The second day of the April 2025 session, chemistry ranged from easy to moderate, physics was moderately challenging, and mathematics was slightly more difficult.
In 2024, the overall difficulty of the exam was considered moderate to difficult. The number of candidates achieving a 100 percent score increased by 13 compared to 2023, with 56 candidates achieving a 100 NTA score in Paper 1 (BE/BTech).
