JEE Main 2024 Topper: Aiming to pursue computer science engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B), Maharashtra’s Visharad Srivastava scored 100 percentile in the JEE Main 2024 results.

“Computer science engineering is a fascinating branch to study. Moreover, the IIT-Bombay CSE students get good placement,” said the 17-year-old. Asked if not IIT Bombay then which institute he would have opted for, Srivastava replied that IIT Delhi is his second preference.

Working towards his dream from Class 7, Visharad joined Allen Institute and focussed on clearing olympiads like the Science Olympiad Foundation which conducts various exams under its domain. “My JEE mindset was developed in Class 10 and before that, my focus was to clear such olympiads,” said the topper.

“In 2022, during the pandemic phase, I appeared for Class 10 board exams — both term one and two separately. After the exams got over, I switched to JEE preparation,” said Srivastava who scored 100 per cent in Class 10.

“In Class 12, the board syllabus is a subset of the JEE syllabus, so one gets prepared for entrance tests and board exams,” said the JEE Main 2024 topper. When asked which subject he found easy, he said: “Chemistry can be a bit from rote learning side, while maths is more intellectual and conceptual based. So if you want to score well, practice is the key.”

“In maths, vectors and three-dimensional geometry and coordinate geometry are the two chapters which I am comfortable with while in chemistry, organic one is much on the thinking side than concept-based. It is also the most logical part of the chemistry,” said  Visharad Srivastava.

During the last few days before the exam, the topper focussed on NCERT for both physics and chemistry. “I was aiming to read all the required NCERT books,” he said.

The Maharashtra boy did not go with the paper flow but devised his strategies. He focussed on chemistry in the first 40-45 minutes, followed by maths in an hour and then in the last hour he dedicated his time to physics. He called physics his strength in the JEE Main exam.

Unlike many other aspirants, Srivastava did not cut off social media completely, however, he “did not get too much involved as well”.
