Notably, among the different regions as segregated by the RRB, Mumbai received the highest number of applications, with 15,59,100 (or 15.59 lakh) candidates applying.
The Indian Railways Group D recruitment drive includes various Level 1 positions across the Railways, for job-roles such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Assistant Pointsman, and technical assistants in departments like Electrical, Mechanical, and Signal and Telecommunication.
The RRB had earlier announced a total of 32,438 vacancies for these Group D posts. However, the now disclosed substantial number of applications indicates that the selection process will be highly competitive, due to the significant disparity between the number of applicants and available positions. With the online registration round concluding, the RRB is expected to announce the examination dates for the Group D recruitment soon.
