IIT Roorkee offers undergraduate programs across 10 disciplines in engineering and architecture, along with postgraduate programmes in 55 fields spanning engineering, applied sciences, architecture, and planning.
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) awards scholarships annually to deserving students. These are offered either as tuition fee concessions or direct transfers to students’ bank accounts. Key scholarships include Merit-cum-Means, James Thomason, INSPIRE SHE, Dr S.K. Goel, and Kusum Goel for disadvantaged engineering students, as well as the Sharman Foundation.

The Merit Cum Means (MCM) scholarship at IIT Roorkee provides financial support to undergraduate and M.Sc. students.
Eligible UG students receive at least Rs 1,000 per month for 10 months along with a refund of the remaining tuition fee, while M.Sc. students receive Rs 1,000 per month for 10 months. The scholarship is available only for the normal duration of the programme, and for dual degree courses, it is limited to the first four years.

It is awarded to up to 25 per cent of the actual strength of each class. To qualify, applicants must belong to the General, General (EWS), or OBC category, be enrolled in BTech, BArch, IDD, IMT, IMS, BS-MS (via JEE Advanced), or MSc (via JAM) programs, and have a parental or guardian income not exceeding Rs 5 lakh in the current assessment year.
Students must maintain a CGPA and YGPA of 7.00 or above, clear all registered courses, and have no record of indiscipline or use of unfair means. Fresh entrants are exempt from the CGPA and course clearance requirements.

The James Thomason (JT) Scholarship at IIT Roorkee is awarded to students admitted through JEE (Advanced) into BTech., B.Arch., Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), and BS-MS programmes.
To qualify, applicants must secure an All India Rank (AIR) of up to 250 in the most recent JEE (Advanced).

The INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE), managed by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), supports students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in science. It is offered to those who rank in the top 1 per cent of their Class 12 board examinations or achieve eligible ranks in competitive exams such as JEE (Main/Advanced), NEET, or KVPY, and gain admission into recognised institutions in science streams across 18 identified subjects.
Renewal of INSPIRE-SHE requires students of Integrated M.Sc. programmes (II–V year) in Mathematics, Chemistry, or Physics to have parental income not exceeding Rs 5 lakh and to have availed the scholarship previously.
Additionally, first-year BS-MS and M.Sc./Int. M.Sc. students in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments are eligible for renewal if they hold an AIR of up to 10,000 in JEE (Advanced 2021) or JAM 2022.

The Dr S.K. Goel and Mrs Kusum Goel Scholarship was introduced in 2022 to support financially constrained undergraduate students at IIT Roorkee. Each awardee receives Rs 2 lakh per year, with one new student selected annually until 2025, after which four students will benefit from the scheme.
The scholarship continues for the normal four-year duration of the program, provided recipients maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at the end of each academic year. It is open to first-year B.Tech. students from the General and OBC categories whose annual family income falls between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh.
The Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students Pursuing Engineering Education at IIT Roorkee supports two undergraduate students each year with an award of USD 1,000 annually. The scholarship continues for the normal four-year duration of the program, provided recipients maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0 at the end of each academic year.
To ensure inclusivity, at least one award is reserved for a female student if she meets the eligibility criteria. The scholarship is open to first-year B.Tech.
Students from the General and OBC categories who are availing a two-thirds tuition fee waiver but not receiving any other similar scholarship. In addition, IIT Roorkee also offers foundation scholarships, including the Sharman Foundation Scholarship, to further support students in need.
