Meet UPSC 2014 topper Tina Dabi who has won award for water harvesting in Rajasthan’s Barmer

Tina Dabi secured 868 marks in the written test and 195 in the personality test, bringing her total to 1063 marks.

IAS officer Tina Dabi has once again distinguished herself by being awarded by the President of India. Serving as the District Collector of Barmer, Rajasthan, Tina Dabi spearheaded an initiative in water conservation that earned the district the first-ever Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) Award.

Conferred by President Droupadi Murmu at the 6th National Water Awards 2025 in New Delhi, the honour celebrates Barmer’s success in rainwater harvesting and community-driven participation under the nationwide campaign. The event was organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti at Vigyan Bhawan. Under the achievement, the district was awarded Rs 2 crore as prize money for its best performance in the first category.

This is not the first time Dabi has gained praise for her works. From being a student of the year during her graduation days to becoming the first woman from the reserved category to top UPSC Civil Services Examination at 22, to bagging President’s Gold Medal for being the “First in Order of Merit” at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, she has been an achiever.

Tina Dabi’s academic brilliance helped pave the way for her success in the UPSC Civil Services Examination at just 22 years of age. She secured 868 marks in the written test and 195 in the personality test, bringing her total to 1063 marks.

Her subject-wise performance in the Mains is: 145 marks in Essay, 119 in General Studies Paper 1, 84 in GS Paper 2, 111 in GS Paper 3, 110 in GS Paper 4, 128 in Political Science Paper 1, and an impressive 171 in Political Science Paper 2. With an overall score of 1063 (52.49%), Dabi’s achievement stands as a testament to her dedication, preparation, and intellectual rigour.

Born in Bhopal, Tina moved to Delhi with her parents and younger sister when she was in Class 8. She completed her schooling from the Convent of Jesus and Mary, opting for humanities in Class 11, by which time she had also started seriously considering attempting the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Himali Dabi, her mother, trained as an engineer. Father Jaswant Dabi works in the Department of Telecom.
