DU Cut-Off List 2021 Updates: Third list released, cut-off remains high

DU Third Cut-Off List 2021 Update: The University of Delhi (DU) today released the third cut-off list for undergraduate (UG) admissions today. The consolidated list is now available at the university’s website- Several DU colleges also release cut-off lists on their official website.

Over 51,000 students have secured admissions to various colleges under the first two cut-offs. The admission process under the third cut-off will commence on October 18.

Over 2.87 lakh students have applied for Delhi University’s undergraduate courses this year. A total of 5 cut-off lists would be released by the varsity on the official website Special cut-off lists would also be released on October 25, after the first three cut-off lists. 

Besides, the fourth and fifth cut-offs will be released only if there are vacant seats. The entire admission process is likely to complete by November 16, 2021.

Political Science (Honours) admission closed in many colleges

Some colleges like Aryabhatta, Bharati, Deshbandhu, Dyal Singh and Hindu have closed admission for the course. Political Science (Honours), which is one of the most sought-after courses, is closed at Aryabhatta College, Miranda House and the Hindu College.

Admission process closed in most courses

Most courses closed for admissions in Delhi University’s third cut-off list announced Saturday. Overall, over 80 per cent seats have already been filled after the second round of admission. Courses which remain open have not seen major drops in percentage.

Hindu College releases third cut-off for only two courses

Admissions to all other courses except BCom (H) and Economics (H) are now closed at Hindu College. The cut-off for Hindu College is at 99 per cent whereas for Bcom (H) the cut-off is at 98.75 per cent.

How to apply for admission?

Several colleges have started releasing cut-offs. Students who have marks equal to or more than the cut0off can apply for these courses from Monday. A student can log-in to their dashboard and select course and college they wish to apply for among the ones that are available based on eligibility. Once the application is accepted by the college, students will have to pay fees to reserve seats. The admission this year is being held online due to the pandemic.

DU Admissions: How to count best of four?

The cut-off is counted on the basis of the ‘best of four’ formulae. Thus, the percentage of the top four scoring subjects in class 12 are considered for admission. As a thumb rule, one language paper and the rest best of three courses are considered but when a student opts for a specialisation, they must have a specific course in class 12 for which they are applying. For instance, for BA (H) Economics, economics is a must subject

Psychology programme mostly offered by Women only colleges in DU

The admissions to various courses against the DU third cut-off will begin from October 18 and end on October 21. The university will release five cut-offs for admissions to various UG courses.

Over 1800 students secured seats at Hindu college under two cut-offs

At Hindu College, 1,858 students have secured their admission to date.

“The third cut-off list is likely to see a decline of up to one per cent for courses. We have already filled up the unreserved seats for B.Com(Honours) while OBC is almost filled up. There will be vacant seats in the reserved categories and there is likely to be a reduction of up to one per cent in the third list. A meeting will be held on Saturday to decide on the cut-offs,” said Manish Kansal, admission convener at the college.

If students took admission to a college in the first or second cut-off list and qualify for a more preferred college in the third list, they will have to withdraw their admission from the first college and apply to the second.
