CUET 2022-23 Latest Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 today. Candidates can fill out the online application form for CUET 2022 on the official website — cuet.samarth.ac.in.

CUET 2022 will tentatively be conducted in the first week of July. The undergraduate admissions to all 45 central universities funded by UGC will be carried out through the CUET scores from this academic session. Meanwhile, international students seeking admission to Indian universities are exempted from CUET. Their admissions will be carried out on the existing supernumerary basis.

As per the official information bulletin, the three-and-a-half-hour computer-based entrance test will only have multiple-choice questions based on the content of class 12 NCERT textbooks. CUET will essentially have three parts. Students will be marked negatively for incorrect answers.

Application fees for CUET 2022

The general category students in Indian centres will have to pay Rs 650 each for morning and evening slot. The General-EWS/OBCNCL category students will Rs 600 for each slot in Indian centres and Rs 550 will be charged for each slot from candidates of the SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender categories. The application fees for students in centres outside India will remain Rs 3000 for all, for each slot. Read more

NTA started the process of CUET 2022 registration in late hours of Wednesday. Interested candidates can now visit CUET website — cuet.samarth.ac.in — to apply for this year's newly-introduced entrance exam.

CUET 2022: Entrance exam to be conducted in two slots

The NTA will conduct the entrance exam of CUET 2022 in two slots. The first slot consists of one language test, two domain-specific papers, and a general test. The second slot of the CUET exam 2022 includes four domain-specific subjects and one optional language subject. The syllabus of the CUET will be mirrored with the Class 12 model syllabus of NCERT.

Language sections of CUET

Section I has been divided into two parts- 

Section IA is a 45-minutes long compulsory section. This section will focus on assessment of language skills. Students will be tested on their English language skills and one other Indian language — Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia.

Section IB is only for students who aim to pursue an undergraduate programme in languages. For this, candidates have to choose from a list of 19 languages — French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian and Chinese.

CUET exam date

The CUET 2022 exam is scheduled to take place in the first and second week of July 2022. However, no set date has been announced by the NTA yet. The date will soon be declared on official CUET website — cuet.samarth.ac.in — or NTA website — nta.ac.in.

No coaching classes needed: UGC Chairman

The UGC Chairman has made it clear that students need not take any extra coaching to appear for CUET 2022. The reason behind his claim is that the questions and syllabus for CUET will strictly be limited to the NCERT books and syllabus. 

However, it is being reported that there has been a surge in enrolment in coaching classes for CUET.

Documents required to apply for CUET

Candidates should keep the following list of documents ready for the CUET 2022 application process.

— Class 10 and 12 marksheet

— Scanned passport size photograph

— Scanned image of the signature

— ID Proof (Aadhar card, driving license, passport etc)

— Caste certificate (if applicable)

CUET 2022 registration to begin soon

The application process was earlier scheduled to begin on April 2, 2022. Later, the NTA had announced towards the end of April 2 that the registration will now take place between April 6 and May 6, 2022. However, the application link has still not been made live by the authorities yet.

What to do if the desired subject is not among the 27 being offered?

The NTA says that in case the desired subject is not available in the list of 27, the candidate should choose the closest option available.

“Generally, the languages/subjects chosen should be the ones that a student has opted for in their latest Class XII Board examination. However, if any University permits any flexibility in this regard, the same can be exercised under CUET (UG) -2022 also. Candidates must carefully refer to the eligibility requirements of various Central Universities in this regard,” the NTA stated. Read more

Is section II compulsory for Du admissions?

“The second section of the entrance exam consists of 27 domain-specific topics. The third section is based on General Knowledge which will be for admission to BA Program only,” Dean Admissions Haneet Gandhi said. Do international students have to appear for CUET?

'Today we have permitted the students to do up to 40% of their credits, anywhere outside their own institution, and parallel to this we have also created the academic bank of credit. Can students switch streams?

Yes, as long as the student is eligible for the course/stream as per the university guidelines, candidates do not have to limit themselves to one stream. Candidates should make sure they choose domain and language courses according to the eligibility criteria of the undergraduate programme they aim to pursue.

Mode and pattern of CUET 2022

CUET 2022 will be a LAN based CBT (Computer Based Test) and all the questions for this entrance exam will be in MCQ form.

According to the UGC statement, CUET 2022 entrance exam will be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and will be held in 13 languages — Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English.

The registration process for this new entrance exam is scheduled to begin today, i.e. April 6, 2022. Earlier, the NTA had announced that the applications will go live on April 2 but due to some unknown reason, the date was extended to April 6.
