Anna University exams: Online petition demands cancellation of exams

Over 36,000 supporters have requested a ‘minimum grade for all’

A petition started by the ‘AntiExam Community’ on the online platform has requested the Anna University to cancel the exams that were initially scheduled on Nov/ Dec. While the authorities have recently released fresh date sheet but some students are not satisfied with this decision.

The petition was posted by the ‘AntiExam Community’ on the online platform The students have urged Anna University authorities to cancel all semester exams due to inclement weather. The petition, began two weeks back, has received over 40,000 supporters signatures.

Rajiv Pandian started this petition which states: “With the never stopping rain and floods that have surrounded Chennai and other districts, disturbed the daily regime of the citizens, conditions for the students also has become pathetic. Already the exams that were scheduled to be held from November 16 to 28 are postponed. Many students are not able to concentrate and many have lost their study materials in floods. It is also difficult for the students to travel to their colleges and also to arrange for food accommodations. Please consider this request and officials should take needed actions.”

The letter has been addressed to Anna University Controller of Examination (COE), Deputy Director and Controller of Examinations. There is still no response from the authorities.

The petition also demands that minimal grades should be awarded to the students. Most students who have signed the petition complaint of loss/damage of their study material or inability to concentrate.
