CBSE class XII results declared Saturday brought good news for most schools in the city that registered 100 per cent results though many schools said the topper’s percentage had dipped a bit owing to tough mathematics paper.
Tushar Baranwal from the Army Public School, Southern Command, who scored 98.2 per cent in science stream and is probably the topper in the city, wants to get into IIT. At his school, the results have been particularly good this year with all 272 students passing the exams and 58 of them scoring above 90 per cent. At least 10 students scored above 95 per cent. The student with second highest percentage in the city, Sankalp Sangle from science stream who scored 98 per cent, also belongs to the same school. Commerce student Saikriti Singh who scored 96 per cent, and Arunima Agarwal of humanities stream who got 94 per cent, are also from the same school.
“We are extremely proud of our students. We have had consistently good results over the years. In fact, we have many students who are subject-wise toppers with 100 on 100 marks,” said principal Binita Poonekar.
Meanwhile, at Delhi Public School in Mohammedwadi too, results were 100 percent with all 107 students passing the exams. Aditi Nishit, a student of the school, along with Saikriti Singh of the Army Public School, has probably topped in the city in commerce stream.
Authorities at DPS confirmed that while Pranav Agarwal topped science faculty scoring 96.2 per cent, Vidya Ravindranath who scored 96 per cent and Aditi Nishit who scored 96 per cent were school toppers in humanities and commerce respectively.
The DAV Public School in Aundh, where a total of 242 students appeared for the exam, has also registered 100% results. Abro Buhuniya has topped in the school in science with 97.4 per cent marks while Priyal Jain stood first in commerce faculty scoring 95.6 per cent.
“Though we did not get any national level overall toppers, we have nine subject-wise national toppers, with one student each scoring 100 on 100 in mathematics and chemistry, five scoring full marks in IT and two students getting the top score in mass media. What we are particularly pleased about is that even weaker students have scored above 70 per cent marks, which is a bigger achievement for us,” said principal C V Madhavi.
At Vikhe Patil Memorial School too, it was 100 per cent results, with 47 students passing the exam in science stream and 20 in commerce. Students from City International School also fared well in the examination, with Abhinav Harish scoring 95.2 per cent in science stream and 50 per cent of 185 students scoring above 80 per cent marks.
While APS Kirkee too secured a 100 per cent result, school authorities blamed a tough Mathematics paper for the overall drop in scores. Principal Arti Sharma said that even the paper checking had not been lenient as declared.
Kendriya Vidyalayas in the city also did well, with some of them registering 100 percent results. At KV Air Force Station that registered 100 percent results in commerce and 99 percent results in science.
KV DIAT had a 100 per cent results. At KV CME, the pass percentage was 94.87 per cent. After many years, KV Ganeshkhind registered 100 percent results, said in-charge principal Prakash Gajbhiye.
In KV Army Area, 141 of 143 students passed the exams.
