At the Save Waqf Conference that All India Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) organised at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi wanted to leave early and he communicated the same to the organisers. But the AIMPLB office-bearers told him that they have scheduled his speech at the fag end of the conference, apprehending many from the gathering might start leaving after listening to him. Sources said Owaisi understood the situation and stayed at the event for more than three hours. And the organisers’ apprehension came true as a large number of people left the stadium immediately after Owaisi’s speech.

Break From Heat

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will chair a meeting of the Consultative Committee in Srinagar on May 2. Such meetings — comprising Members of Parliament and officers — are generally held in Delhi. However, this time it’s being organised in Srinagar, offering a break from the scorching summer heat of the Capital. The agenda for the meeting includes discussions on natural farming and the National Oilseeds Mission. Along with the minister, five senior officials from the Agriculture Ministry will also be there.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has told all the DCPs that all the complaints related to the department coming from Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s ‘Jansunwai’ programme needed to be responded to within three days and the responses should also go to the vigilance unit. The Delhi CM conducts ‘Jansunwai’ programme, where she listens to the grievances of the public, thrice a week at her residence or office for an hour.
