‘Da’ Great Debate

During the debate on 150 years of Vande Mataram in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, began his speech referring to the song composer Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay as “Bankim Da”. Many TMC MPs were seen exchanging glances at the reference. A few minutes into the PM’s speech, senior TMC MP Saugata Roy asked, “Why are you saying Bankim Da? You should be saying Bankim Babu.” Modi immediately accepted the suggestion. “Yes, Bankim Babu. Thank you. Aapki bhavanaon ki mein aadar karta hum (I respect your sentiments)…” “Dada (to Roy), thank you. Aapko Dada keh sakta hun na (I can still address you as Dada),” the PM asked the TMC MP, drawing laughter from the members.

Stay in Line

Despite repeated warnings from senior officers in the Rapid Action Force of CRPF, photos of personnel in uniform with weapons, of operations and other sensitive content are still being shared online. In a recent communication, a senior officer said these lapses have been taken seriously by the higher ups, and indicated a lack of adherence to established protocols. All commandants have now been asked to ensure strict compliance with the social media guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Intelligence Directorate. They have been instructed to clearly brief the dos and don’ts pertaining to the use of social media to the last man in their units to prevent such violations in the future. Strict disciplinary action has been suggested for repeat offenders.
