Delhi Confidential: Moon Mug

Photos of the mug with an inscription “love you to moon and back” went viral and several social media users interpreted it as the CM’s “show of support for a rape survivor” following the arrest of the accused.

A COFFEE mug held by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a political protest against the Central government on Monday was noticed by many. Photos of the mug with an inscription “love you to moon and back” went viral and several social media users interpreted it as the CM’s “show of support for a rape survivor” following the arrest of the accused — expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil — on Sunday. The woman, who had alleged that the MLA had forced her to undergo an abortion, shared her pain of losing the baby in a Facebook post, which ended with the message “mother loves you to the moon and back”.

Mundu Ties

UNION HOME Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah surprised everyone by wearing a mundu, paired with a white kurta and a stole, at a meeting with party’s newly elected local body representatives and karyakartas in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Shah, it is learnt, decided to wear the Mundu to visit the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, where shirts and trousers are not allowed. BJP leaders and workers appreciated his “new look” and interpreted the move as his “growing focus on south India”. When BJP’s Kerala unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the new attire has given him a “Malayalee look”, Shah promptly declared that he is “for all India”.
