Delhi Confidential: Show of Solidarity

After a video of Congress’s Madhya Pradesh unit chief Kamal Nath suggesting that party workers angry over not getting Assembly poll tickets should tear party leader Digvijaya Singh’s clothes went viral, there seems to be a concerted effort to portray an image of unity in the state Congress. Singh is regularly seen sitting in Nath’s office for party work. When a local Hindi daily reporter asked Nath about any acrimony between the two leaders, the latter walked out of the room and returned with Singh in a minute. He told the reporter to ask Singh the same question. Both the leaders laughed over the question, putting up a united, happy front for the media.

First Hurdle

Delhi Police’s proposal to build a new headquarters for its Special Cell unit in Lodhi Colony, after demolishing the existing office there, hit a roadblock recently when the Ministry of Home Affairs asked the force to send a revised estimate of its budget of around Rs 368 crore. Delhi Police, which was expecting the MHA to forward its proposal to the finance ministry for the final approval as the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the proposal, is now back to the drawing board to get MHA’s clearance.
