For the BJP, winning most of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in 2024 is on top of its agenda. Uttar Pradesh PWD Minister Jitin Prasada, a Brahmin himself, seems to have taken the lead in wooing the community. After taking the initiative for the development of Jalalabad, the birthplace of Lord Parshuram, and making it part of the tourist circuit, Prasada was in Delhi this week to get a new Rs 87.37-crore tourism infrastructure development project cleared for Jalalabad. Prasada wants the works to start as early as possible so that the party has a wider acceptance among the Brahmins.

Banter Bonhomie

Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha’s light-hearted banter continued in the House on Tuesday. Last week, after videos of Chadha with film actor Parineeti Chopra went viral, Dhankhar had remarked that the AAP MP was taking much space on social media. On Tuesday, as the House reassembled in the afternoon, Chadha said: “Sir, hum kaale hein toh kya hua, dilwale hein”, in an apparent reference to the Opposition members clad in black to protest against the government. With a smile, Dhankhar replied: “You are looking excellent in black”. The bonhomie was, however, short-lived as the proceedings were adjourned within two minutes.
