Alleging a vendetta against party workers, the Congress leadership of Tarn Taran district held a protest outside the district SSP’s on Monday. The protest was led by Congress leaders Ramanjit Singh Sikki,Tarn Taran district Congress president Dharamveer Agnihotri and Harminder Singh Gill.

The leaders submitted a memorandum to the SSP,alleging that “false cases” were being registered against Congress workers “at the behest of Akali leaders” and SHOs were acting as “executing agents” of the ruling party rather than employees of an independent force. The memorandum said the relatives of the “so-called accused” Congress workers were also being harassed and being pressurised to join the Shiromani Akali Dal.

“Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal says that it is Ram Rajya. But,in reality it is worse than the Ravana Rajya,” Sikki said.

Tarn Taran SSP Dinesh Partap Singh said he would look into the issues raised.
